have keys been given out yet? my mate is looking to pre-order but may choose steam over 3rd party site if it means getting the access for the XP weekend

Yeh, just looking on GMG's game key faq, all their keys are usually sent on release date. So those of us who have done so, will not get the beta extension; which is a bit annoying, but at least it was cheaper.

FAIL. I went to pre-order on Steam and got an error about not having some previous part of game installed. I talked to a Relic dev and he said its a bug that they're working on fixing so I ordered straight from the Sega Store using the giant PREORDER NOW button on the official companyofheroes.com site. I paid full price because I liked the idea of supporting Relic rather than going to GMG or some other random site. Now I will not be playing and will not see the "Double XP" weekend cuz they F-d up not me. Excellent job...

Well, maybe they will tell their retailers/stores to give COH2 keys on 18th to all those who preordered, I don't know

i have pre-ordered from GMG too, and by your responses i guess i will just receive the key on the release date. maybe i will ask GMG what they think about this. well in last case i can always play vCOH during these days when open beta closes

So, I'm not sure as I already have the game and can't check... but can you not just log into steam and download the beta (It's hidden in text just below the CE purchase button).

Log in, play

On launch, you get your Key from GMG. Go into steam, enter the key, then download CoH2 and play.
