That last image, not an Axis armoured car. It's an M3 scout car. So something the soviets are using :p

You are welcome :) Otherwise in picture nr 2 with the German soldiers, i believe those chaps are Osttruppen.

3 Shows a KV-1 and a Su/76

5 Panzergrenadiers, PaK40s and some sort of light halftrack.
6. T-70s :p

and that last one, the m3 scout car. Sort of like a tiny halftrack, depends on how relic wants to use it though.

I am totally not the guy who goes for graphics (and I will surely play CoH2 on setting that don't interfere with multiplay), but the graphic on this trailer was underwhelming. I honestly think that CoH looks as good as this on highest settings...

Luckily I couldn't give a damn, you could just make coh2 with the coh1 engine and call it a day.

I guess the essence 3.0 Engine has more to give than just eye candy. And I'm pretty sure I'm not in the majority. :)

There are graphic geeks out there, too! like me :D

I am sure the 5 seconds of ingame action didnt reveal all the buty of CoH2. Some of the screenshots already showed a
big improvement over CoH1.

It's a challenge, even six years later, to make a game look better than COH because that game - if I don't say so myself - looked pretty darn good. And still does.

But COH2 has some really nice advances on the graphic side - I think the lighting looks better, the details are crisper on the units, the fx look amazing...it's pretty sweet. I'll throw in a few notes from our lead programmer, Remy Saville, on the tech;

-------------------------------------------

Snow tracks; prior to DX11 you only see normal maps to fake snow tracks as your troops walk around. In 11 you leave real foot prints in the snow! And you only see these when you do the fog of war reveal. It makes for some cool moments when you walk across something and realize your opponent already had a tank or a blob going around the map hunting you! Nothing else does what we’re doing with snow and FoW.

Performance; test case of drawing 1000 REDACTED [:)] units with optimized rendering boosts performance from 5 to 22fps between old and new engines.

Fog of War system is cooler than any other game. Period.

Ice tech allows vehicles to drive over water leaving fantastic cracks that both convey how strong the ice is and it looks realistic!

Audio improvements are meaningful. If you want the best for CoH2 don’t settle for playing on low quality head phones!

Perspective Terrain Compositor creates an optimal texture for what you’re looking at. We have greater detail in less memory than coh1 on our terrain. Very important for an RTS since that is pretty much all you look at!

UI is cutting edge. This is super subtle, but must be pointed out. Move the mouse up and down the buttons in the front end. This isn’t a simple hover state like a web page or a game from last decade, this has a proper sheen to hover. Everything is fast, fluid, and alive. Very cool!

FX system at Relic has received further improvements. But it’s already good enough that when our graphics programmer did a presentation on it at the Korea GDC it is became the top tweet/retweeted slideshare. This means CoH2 will have pretty explosions.

Water is updated and very nice.

Also added SSAO, FXAA, etc, but this just more of keeping up with the Joneses!

The fire from the flamethrowers looks really nice. Although it looked really nice in coh also. You clearly see the burning fluid stick to the clothes turning them krauts to crisp.

Awsome!

Fortunately there are surely people more focused on graphics than Shepp, so... not a waste at all. ;)

Although I must agree with Shepp; the graphics in this game is subordinated the gameplay and I assume that it will remain so. Not that it making anyone feel bad if it's improved. ;)

Don't get me wrong. The graphics of CoH were very very good and only after I updated my PC, I could experience them fully. But I felt it wasn't just for the heck of it. The pretty graphics and fx effects were there to create atmosphere. Combined with the awesome sounds coh was and is a breathtaking experience. Apparently, you guys just seem to focus on this very aspect again in CoH2. To create an immersive atmosphere. And are not eager to create a meaningless firework.
