COH2.ORG is looking for staff!
Months after the release of Company of Heroes 2, things are getting into full gear: Sunday Night Fights Season 5 has begun, new modding tools are being released and the slowly growing community is looking for new strategies and ways to play our beloved game. For the foreseeable future, meeting deadlines and constantly providing you with new content is going to be an uphill battle. COH2.ORG therefore needs a larger team of volunteers to run the site and its events. All sections need your help!
Apply as a Writer
There isn't a single piece of content that doesn't involve writing. Newsposts, announcements, strategy guides, and anything else published on this site has to be written, edited, and formatted to look professional and understandable.
Your tasks:
New content is always welcome on COH2.ORG. Writers always have a number of "jobs" available to them: when a staff member needs something to be written, they can make a post in the Editing Room describing what they want. Any Writer is then free to start working on the piece; if you don't like the subject, no one will force you to do it. We have various categories in the News section where you can write about almost anything you want.
We also like to back each other up: everything that goes on the portal has to be reviewed by as many people as possible. This is primarily done by Editors, but the task falls to fellow Writers as well.
To apply, you have to have a good knowledge of the English language and some spare time during your weeks. Send your applications to our Editor in Chief, Twister. Please include a sample of your writing, whether it is a small news report or an original story.
Apply as a Mod/Map Maker
You create your own maps for Company of Heroes 2, or you are modifying the game to create a new experience? You are interested in sharing your knowledge? Then you might be interested in becoming a Mod or Map Maker!
Your tasks:
The modding section on COH2.org is brand new. Actually, the modding and map-making scene of Company of Heroes 2 is only starting to emerge now that Worldbuilder is released. More mod tools are going to follow.
We need dedicated people like you to help us establish the section on COH2.ORG by creating tutorials for newcomers on how to use Worldbuilder and other modding tools. In addition, we need you to be active in the modding/mapping section by posting your own projects as well as answering questions from community members. Your contributions will help make COH2.ORG the place to be for Company of Heroes 2 modding.
To apply, send a PM to OnkelSam.
Apply as an Artist
The Artist position is for people who can picture an epic scene in their head and make it a reality. News highlights, SNF splashscreens, guide illustrations; every single picture on this website has a creative mind behind it, and we need more of them!
Your tasks:
The bread and butter work of Artists is to provide images for portal content, in particular "highlight images." However, that's not the only canvas that needs paint. If a Strategist needs help with images for his new Soviet Guide, illustrating tactical movement etc., you will be there to assist him. If our Referees are organizing a new tournament format and need a banner, or brackets for illustration, you will be there to help them. We are also constantly expanding our features and styling. If you have any skills in web design, we would be thankful for your input and insight.
Here is a list of things you would need to be an Artist on COH2.ORG:
- Above-average skills in graphic design, using professional 2D design software, like Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator or GIMP. This means we want you to be able to do more than just adding some text, strokes or blending options to existing graphics.
- You need creativity, to come up with new and unique highlight designs for our portal content.
- Experience in web design would be nice, but isn't mandatory.
- Time! Images are often the bottleneck for new portal content, so we need our artists to be responsive and able to provide pictures within a reasonable time!
- Powerful computer hardware would be a nice bonus, because it would allow you to take your own high quality in-game screenshots and videos for your content.
You think you have what it takes? Please apply by sending a PM to our Lead Artist, OnkelSam. In your application, please provide us with some information about you and your experience as a graphic designer. If you have an online portfolio, please give us the link.
If you are accepted, you will join a staff team that is passionate about the Company of Heroes franchise and it's community. You'll gain access to the Staff forums, which is where the magic happens. COH2.ORG is looking forward to your applications, and thanks in advance!
Apply as a Referee
The referee position isn't an easy one: it requires time, passion and the will to work behind the scenes to offer the best support possible to our community, ensuring all the events and the tourneys run smoothly. The referee's role is not just overseeing an event; they have also two important jobs: the responsibility of making decisions when an issue between players happens and having the final word on tournament matters during events. Referees should have the motivation and imagination to design and propose new types of events and tourneys. Referees collaborate with the Admins and the Section Leader to set up the best rules for the game.
Your tasks:
As Referee you will be constantly involved in the design of new events, looking at new formats and rules to use, as well as helping the team as supervisor of the tourneys organized. To become a referee on COH2.ORG you will have to be able to:
- Set up an event. Writing up the rules and thinking of new formats is one of the most important tasks. We are always looking for innovation and we evaluate in a very serious way any detailed proposal of a new event.
- Administrate the sign-ups and help in keeping the spreadsheets and the forum thread about sign-ups as clean as possible.
- Answer questions from players in the Q&A thread that will be opened as soon as a tournament is announced.
- Ensure the team keeps the schedule as well as possible to prevent brackets being delayed during a tournament.
You think you are the right person for this role? Please apply by sending a PM to our Tournament Director, GeneralHell. In your application, please provide us with some information about you and the reasons because you want to become a referee.
If you are accepted, you will join a staff team that is passionate about the Company of Heroes franchise and its community. You'll gain access to the Staff forums, which is where the magic happens. COH2.ORG is looking forward to your applications, and thanks in advance!
Apply as a Moderator
The moderator position is among the hardest positions to fit on any community website and on COH2.ORG, where we have quite a lot of traffic, it is particularly challenging. Checking all the forum posts requires a lot of free time. To understand exactly the meaning of each post it is important to have a strong written English knowledge.
Your tasks:
COH2.ORG is a relatively new community (we are live from about one year ago) and we are still working in developing all the mod tools required for our staffers to do their best job. In the meanwhile, though, we have experienced a great first year following the idea of blend moderation: trying to let everyone express his opinion and joining discussions mainly to warn people when they were not using our main and 1st rule: using common sense before writing something and expressing an idea in a respectful and polite way. We strongly believe in blend moderation and we are looking for moderators with a good understanding of when to act and in what proportion, especially since you will be granted powerful tools to lock and invisible discussions.
Your work as moderator is a daily work, made mainly of checking forums and our twitch.tv chat during Sunday Night Fights, and reporting in our Moderation area all the infractions from players. If you are willing to become a Moderator you would have to:
- Be an active member of COH2.ORG willing to spend time checking forums.
- Have a good sense of understanding when it's time to jump into a discussion and to be able to evaluate alone what is the best thing to do (writing a post, warning certain users, closing the thread, making certain posts invisible).
- Help newcomers if they have an issue and point them to the solution (and even bringing other staffers in the discussion). You are the forum guardians. It's your job to oversee the whole community.
- Help the Moderation team discussing and deciding about Moderation decisions and how to improve the COH2.ORG Moderation system.
If you think you are the right person to fit this role, send a PM to our Director of Moderation, Lynskey, or to our Admin, Marcus2389. In your application, please provide us with some information about you and the reasons because you want to become a moderator.
If you are accepted, you will join a staff team that is passionate about the Company of Heroes franchise and its community. You'll gain access to the Staff forums and the Moderation forums, which is where we oversee the forums. COH2.ORG is looking forward to your applications, and thanks in advance!
