Why do you write Alpha Stress Test like that? What do the italics mean?

For the names or titles of things e.g. Company of Heroes. Relic described it as the Alpha Stress Test or AST so I consider it to be the proper title as thus italicise it.

It is one of the Software testing phase
Alpha testing is simulated or actual operational testing by potential users/customers or an independent test team at the developers' site.(Wikipedia)
