This game was on Misnk I used the Ostruppen vs sniper guards opening was a bit back and forth couldn't chase the sniper with scout car in fear of mines that I was detecting, skiped T3 and went straight to T4 got Pwerfer and started getting ground back.
I did place Tellers in the flanks but the tanks were able to drive right past them and that caught me off guard plus a very nice flank with flamer engi decrew Pack, in the end I recovered even after losing the panther and pwerfer, the tellers finally paid off as I baited and took out 2 T34-85 later got a second panther and after killing all T34 opponent quits even though I was drained on vps had only 6 vs over 300 I think |
So this was a very long game on Misnk Started with the T1 m3 double penal plus 2 cons and got 2 guards after,k this time went for T3 T34, held the line until ML-20 arrived after that was constant barrage, ally went for Airborne P-47 came in very handy.
After awhile the inevitable KT with Panther comes but is constantly getting crit engine damage, and becomes Howitzer target later tech T2 for AT gun and T4 for SU-85 plus Kathy to continue the barrage many blobs fell and so did many Heavy tanks

Hi so in this game the axis focused on the mid of semoisky as usual i went advanced warfare with T1 into T4 for kathy, m3 to counter kunbel, 2 penals for flmaer and aditional early game advantage then 3 cons with ppsh after kathy did its job and we pushed back the axis from the mid they waited for KT and TA.
I massed T34-85 and just flanked from 2 sides while my ally was US holding the frontline the axis heavies were always taking rear armor hits no matter were they turned and went down fast.
Just a different strat from the usual maxim spam or sniper opening

So this one was on langres not the best map to make use of this doctrine since assault grens don't have the same impact as they would in a close quarter map.
My opponent didn't get Assault grens and I was surprised by pgren/HT which killed a squad before going down to m20.
Later lost another squad was busy drooping AT gun to counter Stuge didn't retreat a rifle and RE squad lost both but got the stug, was going airborne so np in losing the squads just replace them with paratroppers, later got a sherman wiped some squads here and there, decrewed and destroyed 2 packs, and used m20 to lay mines once tiger was out.
Got a jackson used AT gun to cover one side leaving the jackson on the other side with a mine in between opponent took bait and quick tiger down |
Hi well I don't think that this docrtine is op at all its good and everything in it is useful but not as good as the tread is suggesting.
Requiring zero tech while using this (or any) doctrine, simply not true if you don't get grens or mg you get owned by flamer m3 and fast m20 or just overwhelmed with numbers be it rifles or conscripts.
I actually played vs this doctrine recently, I did lose a squad here and there due to the shock value of the pgren halftrack and stugE but still the only reason I wasn't expecting was because no Assault grens were called in so dint know what doctrine to expect, the map was on langres not exactly the best map to go for this doctrine works best in close quarter maps.
As US you always have some kind of light vehicle out by the time pgren/HT is called in as for Assault gren keep them at range with rifles and rush your light vehicle in no faust np, after that you know StugE is a possibility either tech captain for AT gun or drop AT gun with Airborne as for tiger use m20 to put mines in obvious paths get jacksons.
If you want to check the game I mentioned I will post it labeled as US vs Mechanized, Im aware its not the best example game to show the true power of this doctrine but gives you a small idea |
In this game I struggled in the early game vs the mg spam but after a sacrificial m20 decrewed a few and my ally comes in and force retreat the rest stealing all mg big win from here i go captain and get the light howietzer.
I went Airborne so pathfinders spot mgs and packs and howie barrages, opponents went for a Leh18 with pwerfer and Tiger Ace with lots of panthers but after a long back and forth action and lots of p47 strafes the jacksons finally proved their superiority as Tank Destroyers.
My ally went for lots of shermans, I got very nice m8 pushing back again and again the LMG gren blobs and only after the pwerfer got a lucky squad wipe on my rifles, I got a paratrooper squad.
Lots of jacksons and other medium tanks were lost in this match I was always floating fuel.

The Build order I came up with is Ass and RE you get enough mp to get both right at the start and follow it up with 2 rifles then it depends, vs early kunbel get LT, m20, vs anything else its up to you, either HT or captain, Stuart.
I then get the vehicle crew to vet 3 change it with RE and get Thompson upgrade, Thompson seems to be good now I usually keep one RE with minesweepers just in case.
This BO is more oriented towards using the full potential of armor company rather than just ass eng, gives you a lot more capping power at the start and since axis players have to keep their army together it really gives you a lot of the map |
So this match on langres vs rifle comapny of all things using the ostruppen, although i guess since its langres the mg 42 just gives a huge advantage, in this match my opponent was a bit lucky with the halftrack it was always escaping with no health found it reversing with a engine damage plus no health got a bundle nade off with pgren and it got engine destroyed took a few more shots to finally bring it down.
I noticed a bug or what I believe to be a bug in the US Hmg it was retreating I killed the gunner and the retreat was cancelled so I stole the mg and later on same thing happened to me was retreating with 4 models and suddenly retreat was cancelled after a few guys died and I lost the mg
weirdly enough my opponent got a major instead of calling in easy 8 and got a motor carriage instead but the game ended shortly after |
So Post patch I have been having lots of fun using the ostruppen doctrine and it actually seems viable, I only get 2 of them to act as meat shields for my grens and late game they have the survivability advantage over grens when it comes to faust tanks, since panther is now more viable you can safely fight heavy tanks without having to get heavy tanks yourself this was on minsk was putting a lot of preessure in my opponent until ISU came out but my panther came out at the same time, a lucky faust railway on the zis, guards and dead ISU in a matter of secs, plus guards button is now nerfed so it becomes a lot easier
The BO is simple start tier 1 get 2 ost 2 gren, mg, dont forget to get minesweepers vs soviet get a scout car if you face m3 or sniper if not flamer haftrack and maybe pgren after that its up to what your opponent does, call ins better skip tier 3 and go straight for panther as p4 cant stand vs t34\85 or heavy tanks you pretty much have to predict your opponents late game
