Thread: Skilled players,levels,Smurfs etc.21 May 2015, 10:35 AM I once got wrecked by Cataclaw's smurf account back when he was top 5. I was like, "you know, Cataclaw has a nice M3 strat he likes to use as soviets" and then he's like, "dude, here's my real steam profile" and I was like, "OHHHHHHHHHHHHH". It was pretty sweet. On the other hand, when speaking about rank, I am currenlty 1800 something. It's a pile of horse shit, really. With Ostheer, I've been in the 2500s after a 15+ loss streak, and I've been as high as 217 before said loss streaks. It's really sad. To be fair, in that game, I should not have spammed rifle nades and waited for LMG42s, but you know, whatever. My micro was still half decent. Seriously, watch it. The combination of TM-35s and ISU-152 wipes is hilarious. After that I just dick around with a tiger and pio. But sometimes, we just get shafted. That game against Cataclaw, I lost. Then against VonIvan, I lost (because my computer crashed due to porn) and then I went on to lose twelve more games in a row. Bottom line is: Ranks, especially below the top 500, don't really seem to matter much. To a certain degree they certainly do, but the fluctuate with every game they're not really an accurate indication of skill. My typical Ostheer rank is between 1400 and 1200. In: Lobby

Thread: USSR FHQ Ability OP17 May 2015, 11:43 AM La Gleize has huge issue with FHQs because near both cut offs and fuel are sturdy brick buildings. Lienne Forest it can be tough as well, but the most effective place isn't on top of the fuel point, but rather near them, which is definitely a good thing. The best thing to do with FHQs is to just ignore them early game and move your units around their HQ. Or, as suggested above, lock them down with a few MGs and some indirect fire. In: COH2 Gameplay

Besides looking at ladder ranks, they could also look at this like campaign and theater of war play time on your steam profile. I think they would want a mix of people who just play AI with their friends. For all we know this new faction has a campaign, too. That being said, as was stated before, nobody is ever entitled to anything. Shit just happens, sometimes you influence how it happens, sometimes you don't. While playing new shit is always fun, when it comes down to it, we'll all be pissing and moaning about imbalanced shit a month after the new stuff gets released. I'm excited to be in this alpha. I was turned down for the WFA alpha, but hey, that's fine. I'm not sad because of it. I moved on. No more butthurt. Besides, I'll be able to play the alpha in the Iberian peninsula near the ocean when I go on vacation with my terribly dysfunctional family. Doesn't that sound like a fun time? be happy for me guys. It has a long range because it's a TD and got a damage reduction and a pen buff to make it more reliable against heavy armor. The panther is the biggest loser here, as stated before, because the amount of shots to kill it has remained the same while the pen has been increased, but that means Ostheer T3 is a bit more forgiving against Jacksons. Praise Jesus. A vetted JP4 will beat a Jackson because of the JP4's camo. If you want to try to 1v1 your JP4 at vet 0 with a Jackson, be my guest, but the point of the JP4 is to use it behind a schreck and/or raketen screen, to minimize damage taken, to minimize the potential for flanking maneuvers, and, with vet, to surprise the enemy. If anything, JP4 camo should be nerfed. Being able to camo after in combat? Gimme a break Relic. Same thing with Pathfinders/Fallschirmjägers. I think this settles the argument? If Jackson had the same gun profile as it does but had the same health and armor as an IS2, that'd be OP, but it doesn't. It needs range and mobility to stay safe from AT fire. Blitzing at a Jackson can still work. The issue there is that, in 1v1, there often times isn't an AT gun if you don't go Airborne and go for a LT. As was stated earlier, zooks sacrifice AI (something USF players really need against OKW) and 120 muni for mediocre weapons. So, therefore, that increases the chances of the axis player's P4 or P5 escaping after rushing a Jackson. Pray for M20 mine? It would be nice if all factions had a TM-35 type of mine. I would be so happy. They're the best kinds of mines because they will hit any target. Jackson is not over performing. Jackson is not OP. Like any unit, it is deadly in a skilled player. Remember Cataclaw's M3 cars? OMGPOP's M3s? The Barton M5? I've learned that one must be patient and wait for the enemy to make a mistake with their micro. Or to offer a trap for the enemy. Edit: to address OP's issue about hopping out to repair the crits, that's great, really. The vehicle crew needs Vet 1 to do that, and if you lay a teller mine within range of your forces, you can often prevent the crew from exiting. MG42 plus Pak plus gren behind a teller? dead Jackson. Squads can't recrew vehicles or weapons when suppressed. In: COH2 Balance

I would have to disagree with you on that, Alex. In the first five minutes of the game, a Kubelwagen is vastly superior to an MG42 because of its mobility. You can drive your Kubel with your Sturmpio to the enemy cutoff, fuel, whatever, and deny them that point. On certain maps, it may make sense to put an MG42 in a building. In the first ten minutes, if your MG42 fails to setup properly in the house (where the setup progression bar stops) it is possible to lose the MG42 and at that early stage of the game, it can set you back or even end the game. (talking 1v1 here) A Kubel is much more maneuverable and, as a result, survivable. If in the right location, it can more easily dodge an AT nade from oorahing cons than an MG42 can from a molotov. There's also the problem of the MG42 not firing when an enemy unit enters its arc, rotation of the gun, aim time, etc. which can cause serious issues. Kubel inflicts suppression on the move, but not enough to suppress; that way, when the kubel does go into suppression mode, it can be near-instant. We've all seen MG42 fail to suppress... MG42 is what saves Ostheer's life early game, especially against con spam. When the MG42 fucks up either because it's in a house, or the ready aim time, rotation time, etc. fucks you over, it can dramatically change the course of the match. In: COH2 Gameplay

I think they only thing they've announced publicly is that next patch will contain the "mysterious" new faction. The invites for the alpha to test said "mysterious" faction will be the 28th, with the alpha opening up sometime after that. I assume at least some balance changes will come through when the new faction goes live? But who knows. Maybe not. I don't think they've confirmed anything aside from Brits... I mean, new faction... yeah. Edit: For clarification, and so that this post doesn't get invis'd no one from Relic or otherwise has said anything specific about which faction they're adding... but we all know it's Brits. Ciez, you're certain that alpha invites are going out on the 28th? I thought I remembered reading it was supposed to be today... but went looking earlier and couldn't find where I saw that date. In a general note, I would also assume that the new faction is coming out at the end of June, just like WFA and CoH 2 launch. If they're doing a beta for the month of May, that would make sense. One month to tweak; maybe a month of open beta in June just like what Relic did for CoH 2's launch. I would also assume that Relic is going to hold off on current balancing patches in preparation for the new faction and try to hurl all of the balance changes on us in one lump sum. In: Lobby
