I of course think Relic should continue to update and fix the game but by law I don't think we can demand anything from them. But that is a topic for another day.
Lets just hope they can fix the big bugs soon.
Well, yea by law we can't. My only concern is that they might (and will) lose paying customers which would have negative effects on their future sales.
So yea, lets hope they fix those big ass bugs. That's all I'm asking for really.
I don't think this is true either. Veto = not gonna play a map and that's how it should be. Some maps are just horrible to play in for a variety of reasons, mostly favoring one starting side or faction.
I agree with you on how it should be, but I think it works like that. At least that's my understanding.
My English might not be good, but how is that possible? While it's possible that through the whole playerbase who is searching 1v1, all maps could be vetoed, the moment you match another player there should be at least 4 maps which are not vetoed by both players.
If we talk about teamgames, that should be another complete different story, as people searching as random might as well veto every single map.
Another Q: does arranged teams vetoes counts as only 1 vote or each player from that team has a vote?
I think it means that the servers don't check your veto list with your opponent(s). The server compares it with every single player who is searching for a game. So for example if there are 1000 players searching and 500 of the vetoed map X and only 10 people vetoed Y, map X won't be picked but map Y will be since it has the lowest amount of vetoes, even if you had vetoed it.
The game worked at launch, in fact you're not entitled to much after that.
This is where you go wrong. I'm totally with you on not attacking individuals, and I also want people to stop attacking Relic. Constructive criticism? No problem. Crying and insulting staff or the whole company? No way.
But, we are entitled and we should be. We should demand customer support. I'm gonna repeat myself from another thread (frankly I don't expect people to read my WoT, but you should watch the video):
Unfortunately, there is no middle ground. People (sometimes me included) are either so toxic and rude, or on the other hand, they are in a blissful ignorance. There is no middle ground here (except some reasonable members of course). We had people attacking other members (Hey Napalm) because he decided to somewhat side with Relic as a so-called "liaison".
And for the record, the game had a lot of technical issues (not talking about balance) at release, which some of them got fixed. But I think 3 years is enough to fix some basic problems (Frame rate, horrible UI performance, missing textures etc).
All in all, there should be a middle ground. No disrespect towards both employees and the company, but we are paying customers. Either call it off and stop supporting the game, or give it your best when you are releasing new content.
Unless they make it coop based, I'd rather they don't.
However, Eternal Crusade is worth keeping an eye out(fanboys can check it now, the ones who have lots of time, check it in Q3).
I've been waiting for Eternal Crusade for ever. The game looks solid at the current state, despite some issues which are present, mostly technical. You can actually feel like a Space Marine. I'm sure it's gonna be a great game.
But let's talk about CoH2, the absolute mess:
I love this game, I loved CoH1 and in general I love Relic as a developer. But here's the thing. CoH2 was a mess since release. From a technical standpoint, there is absolutely no excuse for a game to have game breaking bugs and glitches after a determined period of time. We're not talking about the balance here so keep that in mind. Just look at CoH2. We have random crashes, freezes, the glorious BugSplat, the coding is a mess which affects game balance, missing textures, lack of quality assurance, etc. Isn't 3 years enough?
Before some people start saying "You know nothing about coding blah blah blah", stop with this nonsense. That's no excuse. Balance can't be achieved easily yes, but the amount of technical issues we currently have for a AAA title is just inexcusable.
But, is Relic the only party to blame? Of course not. Both the developers and the publishers are responsible. We can blame THQ (may they rest in peace) all day long but still Relic is a party to be blamed. Their policies are old fashioned (as one former employee wrote an anonymous review ans stated that their management style is old fashioned which makes production time consuming).
As for their next project, it's pretty obvious that they are working on another DoW title, which I myself like more than CoH2. I hope that they learn from their mistakes. The original DoW was a great game. DoW 2 had great content, and I think the money we've paid for DLCs here force them to make DoWIII a better game. There won't be another CoH game for a long long time. I agree with Katitof, the genre is dying.
And please, stop defending Relic and calling us entitled. If you still think that player entitlement is a thing, watch this:
I love the criticisms of a mapmaker by people who have never even attempted to make one.
Think you can do better?
Put up or shut up. Or at the very least show some damn manners.
Entitled whiny babies. Good lord.
The map makers can do what ever the hell they want. "Any and All" criticism should be directed to relic, since they are the ones deciding which map enters the map pool. They have to adjust the map for Ranked games.
This is the exact case we had with Sittard. A lot of people attacked the map maker and he defended his map fiercely, but the fault was Relic's.
