Holy crap, this is embarassing
What needs to be said tho: ggwp
What made me react like this was the bounces on the IS2, esp. when it was low health. But then again, I haven't played CoH2 in like 6months, so I don't know the stats
Edit: thanks for playing non-meta. Thumbs up for you.
Feel free to add me, if you're interested in a rematch.
Edit no2: just checked the log, no reason to call me noob DansGame
I like to do the very same thing in mentee training. For me it was more about getting to know the core units of each faction better. For the first game I would also encourage you to play without guards / shocks and try to make Soviets still work for you. With T1, Penals, Mines, something crazy.
Anywho I like this idea and you can count me in.
I'm not interested in 3v3, 4v4 matches as they tend to be flodded and full of spammed units, blobbing is too high rewarded. Sometimes I have the same feeling about 2v2s :/
At some point adding some commanders would be lovely. Especially soviets and Ostheer got underused doctrines (NKVD etc. -> Howitzers )
Great to see this thread and someone interested in non-meta
I have not encountered this problem yet. Molotovs make you have to reposition more often. You need to scout for your MGs to make them work better (range). By the time a KV8 comes out you can prepare for it. (Defensive) Mine placement, PaK40, maybe even Shrecks, but not necessary imo.
Edit: a replay, where you had problem dealing with it would be helpful to figure out the problem that you have
Your go to scout ressource as Wehrmacht is the 222 Scout Car, which gains it's sight advantage at Vet2 and once again at Vet3 I believe. You can further increase the sight by using the doctrinal scopes (eg Jaeger Armour or Mechanized)
It would be very helpful for our Strategists, if you'd upload a replay, so they can take a look at it and spot some areas, where you may have to work on.
Generally speaking: use indirect fire to dislocate both infantry and support weapons or use snipers to force him to move or pull back his units. Use those units to help your main infantry to win the engagements or take the high ground.
You can camo your units with certain doctrines, check out our Ostheer guides for that:
Emplacements are annoying to deal with, but once again: link a replay, so we can take a look at your games
If one of you forum warriors and balance "experts" would only dedicate half the time you waste on creating new balance threads and actually play & enjoy the game:
1) you would actually get something out of your time (playing / having fun / making own strats work)
2) you would not waste our time
3) this forum would be less flooded and more enjoyable
Just kidding. Sounds interesting, since so many people have been asking for a "non-pro-tournament". Obviously fun is great. I wonder how to get to the point where competitors are looking for the great fun rather than winning the tournament. Because that is what tournaments are about, right? If we want to have fun, why don't we just play automatch in that manner?
We've had the NMC (Non Meta Commanders cup). Gamingbro aka TheHooligan made it happen, so feel free to ask him about it!
I really enjoy non-meta. The problem I see with a lower-tier-tournament is this: what makes us excited about tournaments? We want to see the very best micro, macro, strategy, insane push, that finally decided the game and we may not have foreseen and executed this well. This is almost exclusively executed by top-tier players. Watching these games is both exciting and educational if you want to get better at CoH2.
Don't get me wrong, I like your idea! It'd be nice to see a platform for not-Top-100 players. I just think it's not as tempting to watch as a top tier tournament, even for beginners / participants themselves.
Cookiez is already on this, but my 2cents: yes, definately a nice doctrine in 1v1s! Haven't used pathfinders yet, but seen them being nicely utilised as well.
