I am sorry there buddy but this is where you are totally wrong. Relic did take a risk by letting just anyone into alpha. I have a friend on my friends list that is in alpha and has only 200Hrs played. So this guy that has 200 hours played is going to contribute a lot to the alpha community I'm sure. More so than a player that has played the game for 3 years, knows the ins and outs of the games. Sure makes a lot of sense there. thanks -

I don't have any issue with Relic getting feedback from all kinds of players...novice to pro. What I do have an issue with is these people who have almost no time in game getting an invite over those who have put in literally thousands of hours playing.

If the goal is to get players to play the alpha, pick those who have shown they will actually PLAY THE GAME.

(If you are in alpha and actually playing...this is obviously not meant towards you.)

It makes me angry and sad at the same time that something like the NDA could cause such angst here and create real anger and division in our small (mostly) tight knit community. It frustrates me EVEN MORE not knowing the reasons behind the decision by Relic to create such an instrument that stifles all legitimate enthusiasm and instead creates anger and bitterness with its prime customers!

I guess as with everything, their decision to enforce such a restrictive NDA comes down to money. Fair enough.

What they don't seem to factor in is how their past treatment of their customer base hurt them enormously. I've really never seen anything like it. Pissing off your customers is generally a bad way to sell your product. I personally know a dozen people who won't buy from Relic simply on principle. My clan at one point had 40-50 people playing Coh. Now, its pretty much just me. How they can't see how their decisions have damaged their own product, I'll never understand.

Meanwhile, what I'm hearing from some here is it comes down to trust and respect. Respect is a 2 way street. I applaud Relic and those in the community who are working to grow trust and respect. But its gonna take time. A LOT of time. You don't just put a band aid on a gaping wound and expect everything to be fine. So yeah...I understand the bitterness. I understand people who think F- Relic. I don't necessarily agree with them, but I empathize.

Basilone -- I can understand the frustration of community members who's attempts at influencing Relic in the past were less than successful (at least in their eyes).

What I don't understand is why you would post something that discourages others from trying? If you like the game and want it improved, keep trying right?

Napalm -- While I respect your position in the community, might want to be careful with your claim to "community liason". It obviously annoys some people especially since it somewhat smacks of entitlement and is AT BEST unofficial.

These are wise words and I couldn't agree more.... except....

Outstanding community members *should* get a free pass and automatic entry. Hans is one. So is Imperial Dane. Romeo is a no-brainer for entry. Ditto ATR, Team RNG casters and the Generals Gents crew.

Barton? No disrespect to the man but (a) his contribution to the community is mainly his skill as a player (he doesn't cast, for example) and (b) his fairly outrageous comments to Cynthia recently deserve some sort of sanction.

Yes, a broad spread of players is needed. That elite dude who popped up recently advocating truck-pushing is an example of why the ultra-competitive will invariably strangle every last drop of fun out of this game in order to climb that ladder (q.v. RNG hate).

But good *community* members? Whatever their skill, they should get in automatically. Ami, Hans, The Dane and the others. We all know who they are.

Edit - any of these folks are welcome to my key if Relic will waive the usual rule. They deserve it more than me by a country mile.

Good post. And keep your key. You're just as welcome as an active community member to that key as any other. At least IMHO.
