I don't think the scott needs to be at pwerfer/katty levels, but it does need to be respected by infantry. Currently it's not. I use it now. It will get hard hits in. No one respects it like other t4 AI tools. If you hear a katty barrage and you know it's coming for you, do you ignore and continue or do you evade? Pwerfer? Stuka? Caliope? Land mattress?
Your first thought about dealing with a scott should not be your infantry. It's not something you should be trying to solve with infantry, unless you are getting outplayed and you are desperate. I wouldn't want to fight a brumbar with rifles, but some games I'm getting outplayed and doing anything I can.
You can get a pgren sneak on it. The better option is to use a p4/panther/jp4. They are hard counters. lay some mines, the better axis players do. A teller does quite the number on a scott. Axis has tools for EVERY situation. Even if it was the prenerf scott, you still had good tools. Allied moral was still piss poor back in the op scott times. Nerfing it did not impact axis capabilities to destroy it.
There are situations were the old scott would get lucky hits and completely destroy full health axis squads. It was kind of rare, but it was just as fucked up as the brumbar doing it, before the brumbar limiter was put in place. That's why it's important to define the role of the scott. If it's a brumbar role, then it should not be doing one hit squad wipes. If it's a poor mans rocket arty role, then it should do 1 hit kills like the rocket arty ALL do.
The pwerfer is the most efficient sqaud wiper too. It doesn't just pin units, thanks hyperbole. Better players actually lead the barrages and kill off the retreating squads, similar to how top players are chucking grenades into retreat paths. Once you get the timing down you can completely deny infantry to your allied opponent using a max 2 pwerfers(how much pop is that?). The barrage will be recharged by the time any new squads show up.

T34/76 is NOT a joke on my hands; Maybe on your hands you make it suck shit? but on me, No. I can kill a stug with a little micro, go toe to toe with a Panzer 4. Is it a joke? LOL T34/85 is apparently a very good tank. But no one says it "one hit wipe" or elefant penetration; up to a point i think this little medium tank just have too much health and too much firepower with that fuel cost.

Something overlooked in the sustained bleed math is that fewer entities also means fewer targets. This sounds good on paper, it doesn't hold up in game, however. The rifles have cobra/stormtrooper accuracy, 60 bullets fired and 10 hit their target. If the accuracy was equal, then yea the larger allied squads would always win. A single OKW player can concentrate enough infantry based anti-infantry to hold back 2 allied players, given that they aren't using elite infantry. That's because okw units hit their targets often, even without special weapons. When concentrated (blobbed, w/e you want to call it) there is no contest. You couldn't win this so easily when obers were more expensive, that was supposed to be the limiter keeping them from becoming the main force(long gone). So they are more efficient fighters and according to the percentages to reinforce, they are cheaper too. They also used to take forever to reinforce, so if you lost models it actually had an impact on your map control capability. You couldn't just play like shit and keep reinforcing them like conscripts. You had to really think if you wanted to be it all on have them stand up to an allied blob. These days though, who cares? You're floating a huge amount of MP and you can quickly reinforce them in the field. Elite allied units will eliminate the efficiency gains of okw or reduce the gap significantly. Paratroopers are especially capable. I'm sure commandos and shock troopers hold up well too. However, there is one really big problem with this. We again have allies tied to a doctrine to do something that axis can do without a doctrine. This isn't an asymetrical balance, it is a design imbalance. The allied factions should have had higher tier stock units on par with panzer grenadiers and obers. However, to be fair, panzer grenadiers are very different from how they were introduced. They used to outright block bullets with body armor values, like shocks still do. That was removed and replaced with a received accuracy and I guess even later their target size was made tiny as well(?). The armor meant that you could get past it with small arms that had higher armor penetration values(like heavy machine guns). Now they just walk through the hmg(lel). I'm not fully sure how the upkeep system works in coh2. I'm guessing they are pretty screwed. That's where I would place a higher burden on axis. A higher upkeep cost on these harder hitting units means they become harder to replace(no longer expendable). The current upkeep with the current fighting efficiency of axis units is too cost effective leading to axis floating mp and allies empty at equal skill levels across the majority(not the top tier best players, if it is I just don't know). In case you axis players think this state is great, I can tell you some points of why it is not good for you.

I really don't understand the need to have a non-lethal scott. Yet it's ok for katyusha, brummbar, panzerwerfer, and walking stuka to be extremely lethal. The brummbar is pretty expensive, but the rocket arty is nearly the same cost. The scot has to get closer and fire slower. Maybe what we need to do before deciding further balance changes is discuss what is the role of the scott, is it performing that role PROPERLY, and if not what should be done so that it does. I can tell you right now, if it's job is either blob control or dislodge team weapons, it does a poor job. The only role it does well right now is annoy and fling a lot of smoke around the map(which is actually useful, tbh) In: COH2 Balance |

I've watched from the beginning as hoardes of players have complained about instant kills from allies. I must have missed the notes, but I'm not surprised there is such a change that was made. The limiter placed on mines was stupid too. Everything being done to reduce punishment on people. If it were up to me, all of them would be removed. You don't like losing men to mine? Sweep first. I see people do it all the time when their panther or tiger gets caught by a mine from m20 and it's crippled. Next time they come around they have a sweeper(usually, some are hard headed). The brumbar is still squad wiping. The big tanks are still squad wiping. Rockets are squad wiping. Do we need to put limits on all this stuff? In: COH2 Balance |
