I'll admit that German units were better equipped and trained than any others in WW2 but seriously, what's with the sprinting Panzer Grenadiers with Panzerzrecks?
I'm sick of these squads just running at my tanks and tanking them down, and this is where I'm sure you'll tell me that my tanks are unprotected, they're not. I've got other squads around them but nothing takes down the PG's before they get in range and take out my SU85s. It's not so bad with T3 tanks as they're pretty good AI and I can make the PG's pay while backing off, but T4 is pathetic versus infantry and sluggish to the point of being ridiculous.
Overall I can live with the Pfausts 100% accuracy and ability to 100% of the time take out my engine but the PG's with panzerzrecks are just too much.
At least rename the unit Crazy Sprinting Super Anti Tank Team so I can get a laugh out of it when it happens.

I've faced it twice and destroyed it twice with the new Soviet Industry commander. Both times I managed to flank it with a T34 and ram it from behind disabling it's engine and gun then it was just about keeping infantry away and ticking away at the tiger ace with whatever I had left. |
I'd say avoid the MGs early game and cap other points. If they're camping fuel use multiple conscripts to flank and take out the MG. Come at them from different angles and it should work out.
As for the mortar halftracks, you can go after them with AT grenades and guards or tech to a quick T70 and chase and destroy them.
Snipers can also work vs the MGs but with the mortar you really have to micro them cause one shell can demolish the squad.
Also, maybe you could try guards in an M3 to try to flank the halftracks and surprise them? I've never tried this but maybe it would work. |
Only engage LMG grens when you have good cover. But always pop a molotov on the grens when they're prone and using the LMG. You should be able to get a kill maybe two, before retreating. If you're in good cover then the molotov and cover could equal a win for you.

Great strat! I've always like T4 over T3 but this strat has won me over to the fast moving T70 and T34. Getting the T70 out early really drains their manpower and allows you to build up some tank power before their first tank shows up.

I only use Shocks in team games where my teammate has guards or T2. I don't find Shocks as effective vs infantry as they should be for the cost. |
I hate the Ostwind. To kill it with anything short of an SU85 you need to use AT grenades to take out it's engine, then retreat the squad. Use Guards to button while you have your ATgun/T70/SU75 take it out. Alternatively if you have enough cons around you can take turns throwing AT grenades at it while the guards have it buttoned.
It's an open top vehicle, right? Has anyone ever had a lucky mortar hit take it out? |
Basically you need a tank T3 to beat assault grenadiers, T70 works well. I always retreat conscripts in one on one engagements with them, sometimes I try to get a molotov off to kill one guy and then retreat, but don't try to fight them unless you've got numbers.
If you get conscript PPSH's and Hit the Dirt, I find one squad with a well placed molotov right at the beginning can take them out with some luck. |
