Concentration of forces is more important. Two squads will always force off one squad. Having more squads and making smart movements allows you to gain map control and push your opponent off. Every retreat is a minute long before that unit is relevant again. It's like the DoW2 meta, itshifted from quick T2's to prolonged T1's because players learned to take advantage of stronger unit presence in t1 to cripple their opponents economy, while being able to deal with whatever they fast teched to simply by waiting it out for a minute and building the necessary counter. It took years to come about and some pioneering from some great players, but the idea of rushing t2 has been pretty much been eradicated in high level play. Instead, you teched based on how much you observed your opponent spending his resources. The game is young. The expansion is younger. You'd be amazed how much the metagame can change over the years even without any patches. People learn to play better. I can name dozens of things that people used to consider unviable, impossible to micro or ridiculous that became standard play in DoW2 in the last 5 years. I've seen it happen with other games as well. Kneejerk reactions are bad, mkay. You end up like Riot and have an awful back and forth seesaw of balance overreacting to complaints. I'd argue if there is any meta yet. Eh, I think people could do some cool stuff that doesn't involve riflemen. For example you could build a bunch of rear echelon guys and then abandon all your vehicles to get the tank crews and crew them with RE. Seems like it'd have potential with the armour doctrine and weapon racks. In: COH2 Balance |

Volley fire should be targeted at one squad and not potentially all squads. It currently literally is "Pay 20 munitions, make all infantry retreat"...every single engagement Use cover. In: COH2 Gameplay |

The counter to fast teching is always to just apply more pressure. Get more infantry, control more of the map, bleed his infantry etc. Also honestly people that rush vehicles are literally the easiest people to kill with mines because they think they're so early that they can be recklessly aggressive. If you made abilities that controlled movement, you could assign a fuel cost to them. I'm not sure about being able to script fuel to drain based on unit movement however. (I'm not remotely familiar with that functionality.) |

I don't usually bother with them. I'll put a second bar on my lieutenant, but I prefer to spend the munitions on grenades or volley fire otherwise. For bazookas I just use captain/scout car vehicle crew, or AT guns. If I'm really floating munitions in the mid-late game, I may throw bars on my vet rifle squads to let them stand toe to toe a bit better with upgraded german infantry. |

Just curious how everyone else is playing the faction. Here's what I've been doing: Immediately start building medic van. Use it to go cap a relatively distant resource point of value. Follow up with two rifle men and then the grenade upgrade from HQ. After that I like to get a third riflemen and then a lieutenant. While lieutenant is building I research bars, and ideally he'll pick up a second BAR when he spawns (making him a fucking brutal DPS machine) Then I get the scout car thingy or a machine gun. After that it varies a lot. I like to paradrop an AT gun in if it's OKW and push him with the machine gun and the AT gun to try and kill any forward trucks. I prefer to get a major at this point and have him chill out in a forward position with the medic van and serve as a forward staging point. Then I go for a Sherman, but my late game is still iffy. Haven't played enough Wehrmacht players to know how this holds up against them in the mid game. Might be better going for the halftrack thing instead of the scout car in that MU. I like Scout car against OKW because they have schrecks on the crew and I like to use the mines. |

I didn't say it was an integral part, I said it's what you can do if he pushes into your base. It shouldn't even get to that point at all. In order to rush the AAHT, you have to skip grenades, which are America's only early game counter to machine guns. You should have most of the map capped. You can also use mines. Teller and HT mines for example. Upgunned Scout car can beat it easily just by staying in front of it, due to its firing arc. You can use smoke mortars to neuter its effectiveness, you can spread your infantry out so they don't all get suppressed at once. There's lots of things you can do, so instead of just pronouncing the match up imbalanced go and try things. Too many threads with people whining for nerfs already. |

Smoke grenades can make units in a building useless. Normal grenades do an okay amount of damage. Generally as American my tactics are just to swarm the map, so if he garrisons a building I just peace out and go somewhere else and force him to move. OKW I'm not sure as I haven't played them yet.
