I don't see how anyone could read IpKai's post and not understand why ladders are inferior methods of determining player skill. Let me provide an anecdotal example:
I had, for a time, two accounts in vCoh. One account I used when I felt like playing serious; I only played in the morning when I was alert and sober. It was evening in western Europe when I played, and I got about an 8:1 W/L ratio, and faced a fair amount of the top tier players.
My other account I only used when I was drunk, which was (usually) at night. The only people awake were Americans/Canucks/Brasilians/Chinese guys, and none of them were very good. I got a 20:1 ratio on that account, despite not ever playing sober while using it.
Also, while I won't name names, I'm sure most of you all know those guys who were consistently level 17+ or front page of the leaderboard, yet never got even close to winning a tournament. |
There is a matchmaking ranking already present, I forget how to find it but its there... so there not being a leader board is separate from there not being skill-based matchmaking. |
Bud makes a good point... it is true that 99% of people who buy it will be shocked at the lack of features and never play it. |
No leaderboards= no incentive for competitive players to play.
I would think/hope competitive players care about playing the game more than their leaderboard ranking. There's always tournaments to prove who is the best anyway. I personally will be only mildly disappointed if there aren't any leader boards, and it certainly won't make me not want to play. |
T34 is already practically a must-build in 1v1 because of its power and utility, I'm not sure it needs to be any stronger at the moment. |
Tiger doctrine (last one to unlock for Ostheer) seems to have been removed. Replay menu is different, they added some tutorial videos. Haven't had a game yet. |
I actually don't mind the prices on the vehicles, I think that keeping the MP cost for the t1/t2 vehicles low encourages light vehicle play in the late game, which is a good thing.
That being said, the scout car could perhaps be 100/25 or 100/30 instead of 80/20 like it is now. But I'm not sure.. 20 fuel is frequently a minute worth of fuel income, which is a significant delay added to the T34 timing. |
Mines do seem overly strong except that you can get sweepers and nullify 1,000 munis worth of mines with them. I think they could use a 30% damage reduction still. |
Reverting the shrek change and allowing one panzershrek to be purhcased at a time - but keeping the 60 muni cost - would help a lot with making the standard conscript +/- t1 into T34 spam a lot less difficult to play against, as three MP44s is still pretty lethal vs infantry.
Beyond maintaining the anti-inf capacity of the shrek squad, it would allow for better flanking of enemy armor as you can spread out your shreks, and it also would let your shreks stay on the field longer overall. |
I don't see upvote and downote arrows on the mlb website....
Just admit it! You directly copied that concept from Reddit, it's not too much of an admittance, it's fine to take ideas from other places, you just give due credit. Let me create an image that accurately depicts the 'similarities'.
Here you go, try and tell me you didn't directly copy reddit's system!
Should reddit have a box on every page that gives credit to Digg? You are putting too much time and energy into this for how silly what you're saying is. Oh wait, Digg actually got the up and down vote concept from Slashdot, so maybe Coh2.org should have an explanation that they got the idea from mlb.com, who probably got it from reddit, who got it from digg, who got it from slashdot. |
