Second of all: Symbolism is all too real. The issue is not of political correctness, but of human nature. The creation, recognition, and use of symbols in human communication is fundamental. It's called semiotics, and it has to do with "meaning making."
There are real laws in place, and there are real people whose families, lives, and well being were harmed by Nazi Germany. Should they be marginalized in the name of "realism" or "anti-political correctness"?
Your tone deafness is immediately apparent because you have named yourself after the SS, a wing of the Nazi party responsible for the mass murder of millions of people. If you enjoy historical references to actual army units, there are many you could have chosen without associating yourself with psychopathic murders. Was every SS member a murder? No, but you are not doing yourself or the world any good by naming yourself in such a way.
COH2 is an arcade game, not a simulator, and not a historical account of the war. You should tread lightly when asking for Nazi party imagery to be used in a game, especially with its popularity in both Germany and Russia. Two countries who know better than most about the atrocities committed (BY BOTH SIDES) and the effect they have on the people who make up their communities. |

Sometimes, I would rather play with an AI. I've won many tough games with the AI, but it wasn't easy, and it was predicated by me doing extremely well up until that point. This was also in 3v3, where my influence as an individual player was greater than 4v4.
Your best bet is to limit playing with randoms. I've queued up with stellar randoms (Top 10) and newbies (2 games played). Quitters do suck. |
They work fine if you plant several of them. Sometimes I will plant 3-4 to cover a flank from a light vehicle, other times I will plant 7-8 and hope it breaks tank engine.
They are fairly effective in clusters, and you should never plant 1 and expect good results. |
Soviets are definitely the lynch-pin to allied 3v3 and 4v4. Maxim, Sniper, and M3 are all necessary to overcome good Axis teams. It also allows US players to stick with their strengths and get Riflemen and light vehicles (Especially M20 and AA-HT) and also focus on getting an ambulance down field, instead of spending manpower on team weapons.
Soviet play is boring for the person playing it, and cheesy to the person who's fighting against it. Allied players must cram limited options down Axis throats, and Axis must leverage strategic options to deal with said cramming.
Overall, balance in 3v3/4v4 is better than most people want to believe. |
I like them where they are at. I definitely feel (rightfully) strong when my Grens have LMGs, and it is a core part of how I play Wehrmacht. They provide excellent firepower from a distance and are limited to only one [purchasable via upgrade].
As Soviet, I really do not enjoy the Cons vs Axis infantry meta that exists now. Cons drop off too much in the late game, which fails to reward players for keeping cons alive. Make no mistake, experience is a resource. Starting units surviving to late game with veterancy and upgraded weapons is core gameplay for the other three factions. |

In other news, we have to perform maintenance on our replays section frequently to adjust for changes by Relic. There are some bugs that need to be worked out still.

I have noticed that many AT rankings are gone from my playercard. As far as I can tell, my ranked teams are all still around, even if I have not played them for 6+ months. The teams that were pruned are AT teams with less than 10 games played, but not all AT teams meeting this criteria.
If you have been playing COH2 since AT rankings were introduced, you probably had a ton of incomplete (less than 10 matches ) AT ranks.
UpdateIt seems that the "missing" teams come back after you play with the team again. Check yourself to confirm if you want to. |
