As a soviet player i can see why the germans feel it is OP'd
I think the turning speed is probably most critical.
if 2 p4's flank at 90 degrees they should take down 2 su86's
as it stands two p4's can come in 180deg out, loose 1 p4, kill one su, then be forced away by the remaining, now vet 2 su86.
while i think it would be fair for 2 su86's to take down 3 or 4 p4's in a frontal assault (if they had a spotter and or the *vet one* cone sight ability).
Or win vs p5 / probably win vs 2 p4's frontal.
If they are flanked at 180 deg, 2 su's should go down to 1 p4. Or at least one definite and one 50/50.
I think half the problem is that it is pretty easy to just roll the su86's forward then back and repair, where to counter them requires skill and often some luck.
So:
Reduce reverse speed a bit.
Reduce turning speed a bit.
Reduce effectiveness against infantry a fraction. turning speed reduction would likely achieve this.
Make the cone sight a vet one timed ability. |
This could easily be done with another two hotkeys.
Straight to waypoint and Reverse straight to waypoint.
They could be auto shift queued. and reset with a regular move command. If the vehicle gets stuck then bad luck.
Problem is, that anyone who microed there tanks with this even moderately competently would win against anyone who didn't.
If the AI pathfinding was improved to balance the 'direct path' approach, then there would be no need for direct path.
also, you would basically end up directly controlling the unit. you might as well just use the arrow keys to control it. |
I'm a new COH2 player, and shelled out $120 for this game.
I played the single player on a hacked version, and was so impressed i immediately brought the collector version.
I paid the extra 50% to show my support for companies developing PC games that actually utilize my PC, not this x-box crap that hasn't improved for 4 years.
I don't generally enjoy competitive multiplayer games as i don't have the patience/skills to get good.
I have really been enjoying the COH2 multiplayer though as its not twitch based and gives you time to think.
I guess im not your average gamer, but there has to be many others like me out there.
I have no gaming friends in RL, and no steam friends as im not a big MP gamer...
I don't see how the lack of a lobby would discourage casual gamers? personally i would use automatch anyway. if i had a friend who played, i could arrange a match with him, so i don't really see the issue?
Not being able to select a map is good i feel, while i don't love every map, playing a variety of maps keeps it fresh, and i feel if maps were selectable i would end up playing on 2-3 maps all the time (weather i wanted to or not as others would be unpopular and hard to get a game on)
The metagame is a bit shallow at the moment but i feel this will improve in time... the base is there.
While i'm certainly not a high level player, i've been able to win without su85's numerous times.
3 t-34's are very potent (well not the firepower, but the ram)
p4's are usually out well before su85's and if people pushed me of the fuel with there first p4 rather than camping there base with it i probably wouldn't get su85's out.
su85's do need a debuff i agree... perhaps if they were slower?
But i am happy with my purchase and the game (only full price game i have brought this year) |
