CS:GO has tons of events going on all the time! I'm talking about competitive events, not DLCs. Players practice for them and develop new strats. The ladder is more active, streamers are more active. Casters and fans get organized and hyped up to watch the competition. When an event (tourney) is on the horizon, the whole mood around here changes for the better. That's what I'm talking about when I say there is absolutely nothing on the horizon.
How many times has the competitive landscape been so bleak? Absolutely nobody is organizing any tournaments at all right now. We've all been waiting for 6 months for Relic & ESL to say something concrete about this "partnership." I'm just thankful that Dr. Wachs stepped up and gave us something awesome to host in December. 22 thousand unique viewers is not to be scoffed at. I'd like to see us build on that momentum instead of just let it fall flat on its face. There should always be multiple events going on, hosted by multiple organizations.
Relic/ESL needs to announce some details about this mysterious $18k tourney series.
Well said Ami! I get the impression that Relic is scrambling...Peter would not have hosted the first Relic stream of 2015 if they had someone else to step into his place. I am really nervous for the game with his departure, especially considering the supposed e-sports ambitions Relic has for the game. They keep mentioning that the multiplayer player base is the most "active and engaged" of their core audience, and yet how they prioritize content doesn't match up with this line of thinking.
If this E-sports ambition is going to make any sort of progress, COH2 is going to have to hit the ground running with its first event. I am actually really pleased to see them dedicate a significant amount of time to fixing bugs, as the game can't really make competitive strides in a buggy state. I just hope they expand the number of strategic options when they finally do get around to putting together a balance patch (GET RID OF THE STALE CALL IN META!)
