What's wrong with the Sherman aside from its higher than usual target size? It's got good speed, good fire on the move capabilities, good penetration, and HE shells to top it all off. Only issue I see with it is the actual offensive veterancy arriving at vet 3 which is where it gets the reduced reload speed.
Nothing bad about it but usually USF only build Sherman when they got the upperhand and the Sherman serves as the nail in the coffin. In contrast, Jackson is always needed for the inevitable Tiger/Panther/KT. |

True, but with smoke/shot blockers and attack ground you can put a bunch of damage on a truck much more safely than an ATG. I'm not saying that they're great or that I wouldn't take a shrek or a zook over a PIAT. All I'm saying is that they're not completely useless like some folks seem to think.
Yep PIAT is a monster when you have 4+ gun shooting at big fat target like Tiger ala Sprice RE blob, for other purpose better use the AT IS from Special Weapon Regiment, usually Luchs/Ostwind just laugh at PIAT, COH1 it works because UK have button, now UK don't even have decent snare. |
I think they have a couple of useful niches, actually. They are excellent building killers, and while they are not generally useful damage dealers against tanks or light armor they do force your opponent to keep moving (i.e. forcing down his accuracy.)
They're definitely not something to build a comp around, but I think they have a real role.
At max range this guy even miss OKW trucks, I'll take zooks/PTRS over this POS anyday. |
Damn, 2 days into the new patch and I already got the 2 new UKF commanders and the Intel Bulletin: I feel asleep... Giving the Land Mattress vet 10% faster. Did they chance the drop rate or am I just that lucky?
Think I might have completed the UKF again just 2 days after the patch, insane.

Thats the point of the HMG.. find a good spot to deffend an area.
Vicker is perfectly fine for UKF. They have good range, nice bonuses with vet and when they are garrisoned. Their damage is better, and axis infantry not gonna pump smoke under their nose.
Vicker knows anything you need against axis in early game. No need to change at all..
But that's the problem with Vickers: it does not have the same versatility as MG42 because unless you find a good building, it is a more expensive and less potent MG42, I want the range increase to be lower but it always work, none of the nonsense building requirement here. |
You need to land first shot, so If the tank moves out of firing circle radius you can't activate the ability, which is why people complain and nobody uses it, because it's because worthless.
So does Treadbreak always stun if hit or does it require your shot to penetrate the tank (like Puma Precise Shot?). |
if it really is matter of situational difference, then the vicker shouldn't be more expensive.
This, Vickers is only good if you can find a good spot and have somebody spot for it and can still be run over by volk blob, while 2 MG-42 overlap each other and Allied player better go somewhere else or use indirect, there's no way the Vickers worth 280mp for that, I would prefer a small range upgrade or increase suppresion with vet, not this nonsense required garrison. |
But anybody knows exactly how Treadbreak work currently? Sometimes it stun enemy tanks while sometimes it does nothing. |
