Thread: Suggestion for Penal build6 Nov 2019, 13:05 PM Hello friends, I love penal builds and was hoping others would shed light on the most effective build they do with them. Hoping to get some ideas. I personally send first CE out to cap whilst building another CE. Then Penal>Penal>Penal. Second CE goes to cap opposite side of map where first CE went to spread my seed quicker and gauge where the enemy is. I've had mixed results with adding the M3 after first or second penal depending on the map. After that CE comes back to build T70 building and move from there. Please excuse my noobness but wanted more suggestions and what works for you. Thanks. In: Red Army Strategies

Thread: Tips versing OKW scavenge commander20 Oct 2019, 07:39 AM Hello, I've seen that this OKW commander is rising in popularity due to the Ostwind being able to get deployed quicker. This beast chews up T-70's and any supporting infantry. Any thoughts on this new disturbing trend? To give some background, I am strictly a penal builder, I have abandoned Cons as they are not on the same ball park as Volks. Penals, on to T-70, followed by SU85 and Katyusha. I always go Shock commander with the incendiary, KV8, and IS2. I just need fresh eyes on my issue with dealing with Ostwind. That thing just makes traversing the map scarier. I'm sure there's an obvious solution but fatigue has gotten to me. Thank you all In: Red Army Strategies
Thread: Problems against armor in the lategame9 Oct 2019, 12:02 PM Jump back to quoted post29 Sep 2019, 03:07 AMcochosgo I've started to get my ass handed at me around minute 20 because I can't quite counter axis armor realiably enough. The biggest problems are instances when tanks can just manouver in close quartes, like the castle at eindhoven country or some houses where they can pivot around. T34s are useless on their own (they are not even fast enough to surround enemy armor), and to get them in time to fight P4s you need to skip the T70, which is a mandatory unit in the current meta. The Su85 has great synergies with the T70, has great range and great rate of fire with vet, but its really clumsy, making it hard to move around making it hard to manouver and really vulnerable to dives. This unit hass become mandatory to deal with mediums because the Su76 was nerfed into the dust, and it low health, damage and penetration making it a subpar zis not worth the fuel its costs. I've never trusted T34/85s to fight armor, because their penetration and rate of fire are still subpar compared to P4s People tell me I have to trade my units with more expensive ones, but the only thing that can cost-effectively trade with the german armor are the T34s 0 VS Vermin Slayer CochoSGO Tomakaze YourMom'sPiesSoHotRightNow 2 Spicy 2vs2 (Underdogs vs Higher Ranks) by: Outsider_Sidaroth map: Moscow Outskirts 1 - I think you just have to treat the SU85 as you would a Zis. You don't throw a Zis in to the main fight. You let it sit back and wreck armour. The T70 chases off wannabe heroes that think they can get the drop on your SU85 while your infantry probe/counter attack. After the new patch, it does seem that SU85 and T70 are the only options left. I've had good results with KV8 as a beefier anti infantry to support SU85. Shock troop commander with the KV8 and IS2 brings good utility. In: Red Army Strategies

The old M3 rush that used to define the OKW/SOV matchup seems less effective. I think that's partly down to the much safer Raketenwerfer and partly down to OKW being a lot less dependent on the early game. One build I've had a little success with against Ost is 2x Combat Engineer 3x Conscript. The new Combat Engineers are four-man Conscripts which are a little less shit, and the flamethrower really helps get Conscripts through the mid-game until they can get their 7 man upgrade. Finally, after the last two patches is it worth picking up a Maxim now? Or is it still DshK or no HMG? M3 with penals has been good against OKW to push them around, but like any vehicle, just needs a little support and good micro. Very good against Ost when they decide to spam the old MG42's. So fun to see the retreat alert over the MG'S when you bring a M3 on their flank. I have found that no HMG'S are worth the wait. As a wise man once said, "Time to go mobile". The small arc for HMG doesn't seem to outweigh the utility of a Conscript or Penal pushing ground. On a side note, shocks don't seem to be as hardcore as they used to be. I used to be able to put a shock squad in the middle of two grenadiers or two volks with great bleed to the germans. But now....the amount of damage you receive doesn't seem worth it anymore.
