First of all, Why does OKW has Flak emplacements in their base that counter any base inspection (such as light vehicles or even medium tanks) compared to any other faction. Why do they have anti air right from the start and on top of that, superb anti light vehicles capabilities. OKW Flak HQ aswell, it can take on even allied medium tanks. My recon run lasts not more than one sweep before beeing shot down (and hopefully wipes a squad or two while doing so ) OKW gets the flak emplacements in their base due to the way their base "construction" is designed. If they place their trucks inside the HQ, they need to be pretty safe - and if they place the trucks outside their base then that's the risk they take - but their HQ still needs to be safe as well - so I can see why they should be slightly stronger than other base defenses buuuuuuuuuuuuuut they're too strong. Rekting planes is unacceptable. And yeah their T4 truck has waaaaay too much penetration. Probably too much overall damage in general. It really mucks up some maps where they can use it to lock down huge chunks with ease. In: Lobby

Thread: Patch 08/12/149 Dec 2014, 02:08 AM Before people start freaking out (I know I did when I read the notes on the private alpha forums) - I'm pretty sure the 125 range is ONLY for the JT's indirect fire ability. The normal range of the JT should remain as it was. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: CieZ Analysis Shoutcasts8 Dec 2014, 17:33 PM Hello everyone, recently I decided to try my hand at the whole shoutcasting thing. So far I've been solo casting games from highly skill players in an attempted to help people learn as much as they can about CoH 2 and the builds/strategies/tactics utilized by these players. The goal of my shoutcasts is to be as informative as possible, while also maintaining a decent level of entertainment - all the information in the world won't matter if people get bored mid-game! So far I've been aiming for about one cast per week, because I still enjoy playing the game (most of the time) and want to make sure that I'm up to date on the meta and builds being used. If you have a game that you think I should cast please PM me on coh2.org with a link to the game and the reason(s) you think it should be cast. I've also considered doing "tutoring" style videos, so if you have a specific match up that you'd like pointers for you can PM me as well and I'll see what I can do - you must include a replay and a description of what you need help with. I'll keep this thread updated as often as possible whenever I release new videos. Thread: How can one kill SU FHQ spam?7 Dec 2014, 16:56 PM Mortar/flamethrower are your best options as you tried. You may have gotten unlucky with your mortar hits or something - hard to say without a replay but just make sure you're using the barrage on the building on cooldown to maximize the amount of damage the building takes. The MHT is really your best option as 1 or 2 incendiary barrages should burn the building down completely. If you see the building is getting to low levels of HP grenades could be used to finish it off - but you mostly want to just indirect fire the structure and use the rest of your force elsewhere on the map if possible. They invest a lot into the FHQ and have major bonuses while fighting near it plus the ability to reinforce, if you can force their army to fight away from the building you mitigate their advantages while also opening up opportunities to take the building down. Toplol of this thread. Also, if the Jackson has "paper armor" then by default the Su85 must have paper armor as well - but I've never heard anyone complaining about the Su85's armor. Go watch the replay I linked Ugbear. Jacksons man-handling Tigers and KTs on one of the most axis favored maps in the current 2v2 pool. The Jackon is freaking amazing. In: COH2 Balance

The Jackson as-is is so inconsistent that it shuts down T3 yet still has a small chance to bounce against it. On the other hand, it's unreliable against heavy tanks in the late-game where anything can kill it easily. If had more reliable penetration for less damage, T3 would be more viable and it would be better equipped to deal with heavies. The RNG comes from the fact that it has average penetration but 1.5x damage. The IS-2 was fine when it had 240 damage and great penetration because it also had a sluggish reload. But Relic changed it to be more like a Panther with 160 damage and a shorter reload. But the M36 doesn't have a sluggish reload, does 1.5x damage, and has unreliable penetration, which makes it feel even less reliable than the old IS-2 was. I feel that if the IS-2 was considered too unreliable as it was, then the M36 absolutely fits the requirements for change. I have no clue what you're trying to say with regard to your comparison between the Is-2 and the Panther...? The Is-2 is nothing at all like the Panther, and as far as I can remember it never has been. I thought the reasoning for changing the Is-2 to 160 damage instead of 240 was to limit the number of times that it would insta-gib infantry squads. In: COH2 Balance

The Panther is still far more reliable, because even if it doesn't penetrate, it isn't in constant danger of death at full health. The Panther can be relied on to survive even if the enemy rushes at it. The Jackson must be babysat constantly because it will die if you don't. But the fragility is another issue, and imo a non-issue. But when you stack RNG gun on a fragile chassis, you make a unit that's micro heavy to use and not fun to fight, and that's where both sides lose. Okay you win the semantics argument of the Jackson having a minute chance to not penetrate the frontal armor of the Pz4 at completely maximum range. Congrats. Still doesn't do anything to dispute the fact that the Jackson completely and utterly shuts down any and all Ost T3 play. Trying to dispute that (which to be fair you haven't tried to do) would be absolutely silly. As for the reliability argument I'm not trying to argue whether or not the Panther or Jackson is the more reliable tank in the general sense of the word. I'm presenting a counter argument specifically to the numerous people in this thread that have claimed that the Jackson is "too RNG" against Axis heavy tanks. They used the word "reliable" saying that the Jackson cannot reliably penetrate the Axis heavies/Panthers, too much RNG, "RNG machine" etc etc etc. Of course the Panther is the more reliable tank in the general sense of the word. It's also a lot more expensive. Doesn't change the fact that specifically regarding its ability to penetrate allied heavies (as is the claim about the Jackson) isn't significantly stronger than the Jackson. In: COH2 Balance

There's a chance for the Jackson to fail penetrating a Panzer IV or Vet 2 StuG, but there's zero chance for a Panther to fail penetrating any Allied Medium Tank. I stand by the idea that the Jackson should trade damage for penetration for the sake of consistency and usability. The Jackson has a 90% chance to penetrate the frontal armor of a Pz4 at max range... give me a break. The mobility of the Jackson is almost exactly the same as that of the Panther. Everyone knows that the Jackson is extremely powerful against Axis medium tanks just like the Panther is extremely strong against Allied mediums. I was simply pointing out that the "reliability" of the Jackson against the Tiger is pretty much the same, if not better, than the Panther's "reliability" against the Is-2. People consistently complain that the Jackson is a "RNG Machine" when facing heavies, yet by that same token the Panther must be as well - but I've literally never heard any complaints along those lines. Thread: M36- badly underpowered?6 Dec 2014, 21:04 PM Some more food for thought, for those saying that the Jackson being unreliable against heavies: The Jackson has a 53.33% chance to penetrate the frontal armor of a Tiger at the max range of 60, assuming no vet 1 ability popped. The Panther has 58.66% chance to penetrate the frontal armor of an IS-2 at the max range of 50. Yet I never hear complaints of the Panther being unreliable against Soviet heavy armor despite extremely similar chances to actually penetrate enemy heavy armor. Additionally the Panther has a longer reload time and a more punishing moving accuracy penalty nor the fact that it takes the Panther 7 penetrating shots to kill an IS-2 but it only takes a Jackson 5 penetrating shots to kill a Tiger. And the Panther is more expensive. In: COH2 Balance
