A doctrinal choice to handle a doctrinal choice?
I mean, if we're talking how to handle a doctrinal endgame unit, I'm not sure the doctrinal nature of a counter can be entirely discounted. |
You're confusing expressing views and opinions with views and opinions being considered. |
Pls go away little troll. Show me your playercard to validate your point of view so at least I can treat you seriously.
You could refer the top 10 leaderboards conveniently to your right.

Lol.
Isn't there a thread like this every few months when someone gets all personal over a balance question? |
I had an interesting thought the other day; What if you could upgrade Vet3 cons to either shocks or guards?
I feel cons are quite useful early game, its just that they don't scale into the late game. Price the upgrade appropriately, maybe translate some of the vet from the cons to the upgraded unit such that there would be an advantage to just calling them in.
Reminds me of how penal battalions would be replaced as a build able squad when you chose a commander with guards or shocks.
A conscript performance upgrade tied to veterancy may not be so crazy an idea, though. Interesting enough to be worth testing, were there only a platform in which balance ideas could be tried and tested.
And I'm not going to comment further because most of this thread is invisworthy at this point. |
Infantry models all have 80 health, with few exceptions for snipers.
Any 4 man squad is 320 damage to wipe.
Any 5 man squad is 400 damage to wipe.
Any 6 man squad is 480 damage to wipe.
Most squads need to retreat by the time they're down to 2 squad members.
160 damage for 4 man squads.
240 damage for 5 man squads.
320 damage for 6 man squads.
Six man squads can absorb twice the damage of a 4 man squad. That's a major component to infantry squad effectiveness that is altogether ignored by dps calculations.
Volks being 5 man AND having an upgrade that protects them from any infantry advancing on them is definitely something that overshadows cons more than anything.
Cons versus ostheer is very different, and even within the realms of balance. |
All maps, 1v1 through 4v4s, suffer from a crippling lack of options to make a map much more than a replicate of existing maps, or just a broken mess of unintuitive inconsistencies. |
The green and red cover on the map that was removed never really bothered me, but the map still works just fine without it though.
Moving the burned out house is a good change. VPs seem fine.
I always figured the cutoff house's lack of windows was its weakness. But I don't mind more damaged buildings in the slightest. |
While you are very correct in that they are effective as a defensive unit, the real meat of it is that they're effective when they have a screen. Remember that the vehicle AI will target the closer tank unless given a direct command by the player, but that command stops the tank from moving. So if an Axis player wants to try and attack your Jackson over your, let's say, Sherman, they have to stop moving (if not move forward), which allows your sherman to continue to advance, flank, and even block from the rear of your target.
The M36 Jackson also has two crucial benefits that does allow for it to be used without support offensively: range and sight. It has better range than most enemy units, but more importantly it has better sight. A couple Jacksons can be extremely powerful with a slow approach. As long as you don't attack directly head on, and try and get as much of an angle as possible, your targets may not even be able to fire back before you fade back out of sight. (Of if you manage to approach from the rear, or flank an unturreted vehicle, kill them outright.)
A similar game can be played as either Axis faction using the Puma, though this is much more dangerous, though you have better sight. (50 instead of 40.)
Keep in mind though against ostheer that pioneers have 42 sight, 2 more than the Jackson. So be wary of that if you're hunting repairing vehicles. Also, spotting scopes. |
This kind of attitude changes nothing. Because views on balance vary things should stay the same. Nonsense.
You do realize I was agreeing with you, right?
Clearly current balancing strategy didnt improve state of the game.
This is, like, basically what I was saying.
