Well there isn't really anything wrong with aim assist even if it was on pc, its simply a contextual sensitivity adjustment. Gaming mouse control panels let you map a extra button to switch between different sensitivity presets, Ive heard levelcap say he does that when he is sniping, so in a way it has already been implemented in pc gaming even though it isn't built in to the game. The whole purpose of aim assist is to have control over aim and not sacrifice too much rotation speed when using analog sticks, but since a mouse already gives you pin point accuracy and extremely fast turn speeds at the same time, there wouldn't even be any upside to use aim assist. TLDR aim assist isn't like a crutch because console players are shitty casuals, it just makes shooters playable with sticks.
About the game I enjoyed SWBF2, so as long as it hasn't taken a step backward from its predecessor I'll still enjoy it even if it doesn't feel like BF5. |
I've listened to a lot of youtubers and most of them all pretty much agree the ground combat is good, but vehicles and flying is totally lackluster. I'm still kind of keen to play it, at least for the co-op.

Aww. But I heard some very negative things about this game. They made everything super duper simple so "non- fps" Starwars fans will be able to play/understand it. Pls no auto aim console crap hopefully, pls Dice. You can always identify people that never played on console from posts like this. GTA and rockstar games have actual lock on targeting. CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc. do not. They have "aim assist" which means when you are aiming near someone the look sensitivity is slower than when you are not. This way you can get a decent amount of precision while aiming at someone but retain a feasible turning speed when you are not aiming at someone. Its not "auto aim crap" I've played thousands of hours on pc and console, and a mouse is much more accurate than a console with aim assist, the console players have it harder than you do. |

Only played about 50 games of coh2 in the past 6 months and I just sold my gaming pc recently. I have PS4 for some nba GTA etc but gaming isnt my main hobby these days. |
No, its a design issue, not mere opinion bias. in Coh1 you start the game with riflemen, which fight other riflemen. the one squad wins, which uses cover and the optimal range of their weapons. The next step is an armored vehicle, which can´t be killed by rifles or improving your infantry by buying veterancy or better equipemnt. It costs alot of ressources though, so its a high risk, but high reward tech.
The enemy can counter armored vehicles by teching for AT weapons. As the game goes along, you tech for heavier armored vehicles (tanks), which require better AT weapons. A good mix of AT/AI normally will win you the game, if you dont loose units.
In coh2 you have an atgun (hardcounter!) from the start and you can build a late game vehicle in early game. There is no tech choice anymore, thus no variety. You already have everything, which makes the game boring.
I get what you're going for but its not entirely true. AT guns come way too early I agree with that part. But the mid-late game vehicle pacing is pretty similar to coh1 unless you are counting Kubelwagen as light armor lol. The problem is quite the opposite really, not enough of the back and forth with mid-late game tech because call-in tanks break that aspect of the game. |

1. that is the first gripe? have you noticed various other UI improvements and added features in the main menu?
2. play more and you'll see okw trucks and brit trucks are pretty different. although i still despise them for how they scale into bigger game modes.
3. each to their own.
4. a neat cosmetic touch. doesn't force you to do anything about it. i for one love dropping papers above enemy's base when i win as sov. other times, i dont care at all. how can one even complain about that?
1. What improved in menu besides a cooler background screen? No leaderboard, inferior chat interface, comparatively horrendous tactical map, meaningless "rank." The only improvement in-game imo is the top right icons that shows units currently in production. |
