Obviously something included in a game you paid for should not be removed and made into paid DLC after the fact (even you don't really use it), just ignore them. The only instance of people being "entitled" here is the counterargument entitled to their incorrect opinions. |
They should only move a core faction unit to a doctrine if that doctrine is going to be free. I remember the marketing campaign for OKW made a big deal out of the Sturmtiger (because Quinn Duffy has a boner for big explosions or something) so if they are going to take it out now, thats pretty bullshit. "I know we promised you unit X with faction A, but because we didn't do a great job balancing we decided to move it to another commander you have to pay for again" literally shelling out more cash to get the same unit again because of bad balance is complete horseshit.
You bought a faction, not a unit. You might've bought a commander, but not a unit. Players expecting recompense for one arbitrary issue with the continual growth and management of the game are displaying a sense of entitlement which is out of touch with reality.
I hope you aren't serious. If someone bought a commander because it was extremely overpowered (ex. Tiger Ace) and got all pissy because they later nerfed the Tiger Ace, that is entitlement. Expecting to retain access to something you paid for is not entitlement. Richard Nixon won president by promising to quickly end the Vietnam war but he did the exact opposite, but by your logic this would be perfectly acceptable because you didn't vote for policy, you voted for a person.

Did aoe2 die when it lost literally ALL developer support and the only reliable way to play it online? Nope. Is it getting an officially sanctioned patched 15 years later? Yup. Hell, they even still have televised aoe1 tournaments in Asia.
I've said it once and I'll say it one last time - coh1 will be as successful as the coh1 community wants it to be. But if they only spread negativity their beloved game will die, which will be a sad day for everyone on coh2.org. A lot of the coh1 guys are still valuable community members.
But Tommy and Rocky made awesome patches that were never officially sanctioned. Also OnkelSam, Whiteflash, and Spanky made tournament quality maps that were never added in to automatch. Tommy left because the community put in a ton of effort but Relic didn't seem to care, except for sponsoring SNF a few hundred bucks. |
CoH1 was far superior than this game for the first 2 years. If you were to change all of the CoH1 upgrades to max 25 fuel it would be a completely different game. Knowing when to get an upgrade made a huge difference. If you threw down a triage before getting a M8 it would delay your M8 another minute which could be a big deal. If you try and hold of triage too long you can be left with a bunch of low health ineffective rifle squads that are not strong enough to hold territory. Also there were decisions like do I lay mines, or get a shrek, or medbunker, etc. that were very important in 1v1. Even though CoH2 has mines, they worked very different so you can't really compare them. Then there was commander decisions. Do I get infantry now to lay a bunch of mines everywhere and drop some offmap, even though blitz is one of the weaker choices against blitz later in the game? That type of decision is pretty much dead since you have so much overlap in your own doctrines, plus the fact its usually hard to tell which one your opponent is using for the same reason. Then there was late game call-in tank spam. Even though I was dissatisfied with CoH2 for all those other reasons, this was the number one. Skip building tier tanks and spam Tigers, IS2, 85s, etc. late game. No mid game fuel decisions, boring as hell. Thankfully they fixed that so I'm going to be playing coh2 more now.
If you weren't playing CoH1 at a high competitive level I can see why the global upgrades issue Inverse talks about seems insignificant, but there are also some other elements that made 1v1 a better in vcoh besides just upgrades. There isn't really much point on debating someone calling vcoh the better competitive game, I'm not trying to convince anyone to go back to play coh1 (I haven't booted it myself in about 3 months), but considering the recent changes at Relic I think the chances are higher now than ever that they will try to change some of the things that coh1 did better.

Sand bags totally Ok, easily counterable. SU cant build any other defensive positions dont have shooting schwer HQ. Dont have a abilit to play defensively in general. while single mg42 in building is already a stronghold.
Axis Defrensive noob play will be a cancer of this game when teeching to rocket truck will be that long.
Whether something is counterable is besides the point, its about improving gameplay to make it more interesting/competitive/tactical. Sitting behind green cover except to occasionally dodge a grenade is none of those. |
I like the pictures by the shoutbox, the trending, and the top redesign. But I find the forum stuff unnecessary and I dont like only showing the top 5 streams, since that only further promotes bandwagon viewing the same people. Sometimes Rogers myself and a few other longtime community members are streaming some other games and our old regular viewers drop by because they noticed us on the home page. |
In COHO I named my main commander Basilone because this was shortly after The Pacific went on hbo and I noticed you could make your character look very similar to John Basilone as he was portrayed in the series. I stuck with that name after I went back to playing vcoh for some reason. |
Its in a game mode where the entire point is that you can bring down the ATAT before it reaches objective. It wouldn't even be fair for Imperials if the person driving sat in back to run up his score and didn't even attempt to win it for his team. If the game is being played as intended it should continue advancing at a steady pace in the right direction, so the automatic movement shouldn't be an issue for someone that plans to play the mode correctly. Besides if you think trolls/tryhards ruining the experience would only be rare occurances, you have too much faith in your fellow gamers.
If you're really in to games where actual people are doing everything, and cohesively ptfo then I highly recommend joining a Arma 3 community. |
That is in the walker escort game mode so some freelance idiot can't sabotage objective play. They might be fully controllable in conquest, we don't know yet. |

The biggest problem with their DLC is how it fragments the playerbase. They need to do something like Rising Storm where everyone gets maps but you are restricted to basic rifleman class, can't play heroes, etc. This is 2015, games look a lot nicer, get more substantial patches, have better sound and animations so don't expect the same price for games from 10 years ago unless you only buy niche small developer titles. If you don't want to spend over 60 hours on a game don't get all the DLC, if you do then you got your money worth. Gaming is one of the most cost efficient past times out there, bitching about dlc cost is petty. If you want overpriced af dlc buy all the coh2 camos commanders and mission DLCs. |
