Thread: Good USF commanders for 2v217 Oct 2018, 12:24 PM Based on what I've seen top10 players do, and what my partner and I do when we do 2x USF is using mostly: Airborne - the P47 loiter is quite potent lategame, and the elite infantry is strong too. Also paradropping MGs/AT guns is nice. Pershing doc - I've seen this but it might not be the best on all maps, due to the abundance of german tank destroyers. But the pershing is very strong. Infantry doc (with priest) - this is a staple in 2v2 - Scotch uses it in 100% of his games. the M1919LMG is very strong on rifles, and the priest is an excellent howitzer piece. Mortar halftrack used to be amazing but now it's mediocre I'd say. Rifleman (with the easy 8) - I've seen this a little little little bit. Easy 8s are a nice generalist tank if your mate is making specialists (firefly/su85/jackson) Right now no one picks armour, and recon doctrine seems super rare too. I am reluctant to even mention Rifleman doctrine on the list above since I think it's really the first three that you see. Ever since the Calliope was nerfed a few patches ago, that commander is also pretty useless. Calliope is just an expensive and shittier version of the Katyusha. In: US Forces Strategies
Thread: Flame Halftrack17 Sep 2018, 14:10 PM This is a bad mentality I see in this community. Just because a unit is a strong choice or is favoured in the meta doesn't automatically mean it needs to be nerfed. CoH2 seems to always want to nerf everything that becomes popular into the ground. I think what would instead be better is doing things other than nerfing the potency of the halftrack. There are many other things to do: - Increase upgrade cost - Increase upgrade time - Add a requirement that requires upgrading to the next battlephase (the one that unlocks T3 - this is the requirement for flame HT in coh1) - Decreasing acceleration on the halftrack (so it dies more easily) Etc. I think nerfing unit performance just decreases strategic choice in CoH2. Alternatively, to nerf light vehicles across the board, you could buff mine damage vs light vehicles. In CoH2, for example, a soviet mine will damage 50% of a light vehicle and will damage the engine. In CoH1, mines had a 200% damage bonus vs light vehicles, and would destroy the engine instead of damaging it. This made kamakazi diving and risky play much more dangerous, and made it much easier to deal with light vehicles without getting overrun. In: COH2 Balance

Just my two cents, but this is nothing new. Even in CoH1, Volksgrenadiers and Grenadiers both used Kar98ks. However, the Grenadiers used a Grenadier specific variant, with higher damage output. Two squad types can have the same role if one comes later and is better. Just think of StuG and panther. Both are TDs, but the later one is obviously better, and more expensive. In: COH2 Balance

If you aren't happy with the way CoH1 is feels, there are plenty of mods in the steam workshop to try out. You could even modify the game yourself if you were feeling so bold... that way you could customize your own experience. In: Lobby

Thread: AI Grenade ratio usage per faction from GCS2 quali2 Aug 2018, 17:29 PM If you kept nades the same but made Volksgrenadier squads have 50% health, I'm sure you would see OKW winrates drop substantially, but see the same or even more grenade usage from them. With CoH2 being such a complex game, and the fact that (as for as I remember), nades weren't touched in the last patch, the claim that winrates are attributed to grenades is in my opinion simply preposterous. I don't even know what you mean, to be honest. In all my games the axis fights you with all or almost all his force at all points in the game. Not to do so would surely spell defeat. Most GCS2 qualifying players are English second language. Therefore speaking English as your first language actual means you have a lesser chance for qualifying for GCS! Clearly the game is biased for non natives, as proven by win rates. In: COH2 Gameplay
