Well, on number 4:
You'll already get the ping that a game is found and the loading screen music even when alt tabbed. I personally don't like instant maximization of the window when a game starts for example. Then I'd have to go and close the sounds of whatever I was doing before. |

Oh, hello Jim. |
It would be interesting to know how many CoH copies (all versions) have been sold up to this day; including all the discounts too.
The number must the quite high, that's for sure. |
Would it be all stages of beta or just later ones? I doubt all those 1k+ alpha people will have granted access to the first stage where (supposedly) only very close circle of players will be testing it. Unless the whole policy on beta has changed.
Well, the alpha was kinda tested with a very close circle of players, wasn't it? I mean world wide a couple of thousand people IS pretty small bunch. |

After Heroes VI, I made a promise to never EVER buy anything from Ubisoft EVER again. I love the game, so the weird stuff they pulled off were only more hurtful. The fuckups from the publishers part basically made the game unplayable for the first year or so. Then after they finally started supporting the game (after putting down the original creator studio) it took another 3-6 months to get it to the point where it should have been on the launch. I will never forgive them. I've forgiven the inconveniences with some of their other games, but this one.. never.
Ubisoft has a nice puppet regime of scapegoat game studios and a very convincing support scene, but when you reach the heart.. only darkness can be found from there. THQ, don't sell Relic to Ubisoft, please. |
How many people are /aren't in alpha?
- every human being in the world either is or isn't in alpha MVGame |
I also got my key later, eventhough when the first wave happened, there was no keys left. |
Btw, has anyone thought about the luck factor in the mirror matches? Luck being the factor it is (at least in CoH, honestly not really sure about CoH 2), I could see lucky strikes being too dominant in determining the winner, especially in the early game. |
In every rts game that I have played and that had mirrors, the mirror matches were the worst. Eventhough they are in theory fun and balanced, there's generally only a few ideal aims during a game. So, because the match is mirrored both player's aims are the same, and the player who's faster/better at reaching those aims wins. It leads to very bland games.
However, in CoH 2 we have CoH factions. On top of that in CoH 2 we also have the commander archetypes and bulletins too. So, in actuality there's a possibility for much variance even between two sets of the same faction. For the first time ever I'm actually thinking that mirror matches might not be that bad, tbh. |
