The VonIvan argument is dumb. If Von is such a good player and puts so much pressure on his opponent, it’s him and not the B4 that’s causing this. The B4 itself has an tonne of counters.
OKW: Stuka zu fuβ, Sturmtiger, goliath, 105mm arty (scavenge doctrine), rocket arty and flame leig (feurstorm), lefh (overwatch/fortifications), Jagdtiger
Ostheer: LeFH, mortar HT, stuka dive bomb, fragmentation bomb, light artillery barrage, railway artillery, panzerwerfer, brummbar siege arty ability vet 1, Stormtroopers, zeroing artillery |
I think this would be a fair positive change. Bundle minesweeper and shrek for 70-90 muni.
To counteract such a buff, I think it would be fair to make them unable to put the minesweeper away, making them able to hit vehicles and detect mines, but useless vs infantry. |
Agreed on the Penals, they are the best iteration of how this squad should have been designed to function. |
It deal greater damage thus it can wipe out infs much more quickly. It do not need coutinous movements to keep the range. In most circumstances, AT squads wouldn't have chance to fire a second shot in front of a ostwind even the ostwind is still.
So the only way to use AT infantry is to run straight at a tank, then complain in the forums when it backs off and keeps firing at you. |
Give volks shreck upgrade. They dont snipe models anymore so its balanced.
And how are you gonna fight without a mainline? Are we gonna go back to Falls and Fusilliers? |
There is really hardly any need for a nerf
Sure it has probably the highest survival-ability in the game, but on the other hand a DPS on par with Kubel and, if one includes the Anvil unlock, quite high cost
Also, options for other generalist tanks are the worst medium in the game and the worst premium medium in the game
You better be trolling. |
Germany is one of the leading exporters of military arms in the world today and has remained a large presence in the arms trade throughout the Cold War. The main reason more people don’t use the MG3 is simply because it isn’t as good as more modern designs like the PKM and FN MAG58 (M240B).
The Soviet block did a great job arming its troops with standardized weapons across a great many countries.
The most prolific German arms manufacturer today is Heckler and Koch (HK) who make the HK416 as their primary export rifle, which is an AR-15 derived rifle with the gas system from an AR-18 added, with the AR-18 originally deriving its gas system from the G43 which took it in turn from the SVT-40.
German firearms are excellent, but to say that Russian ones aren’t is to misunderstand history.
Great comment
Apparently the Cold War is still going on and americans have to cite 70s propagand in 2019. Sad.

A choice to either get mowed down trying to approach with MP 40s or keep Kar 98Ks and lose all long range firefights versus Allied vetted upgraded infantry because their Kars are mediocre at best. That doesn't seem like very good choices to me. Toning down Allied mainlines would also have consequences for how well they'd match up with LMG Grens and Panzergrenadiers and Obersoldaten and G43 Panzerfusiliers, they are not solely balanced against STG 44 Volks. It's a delicate ecosystem we can't simply go mess around with.
I personally don't think the STG 44s are that impressive at all, and neither are Volks. They are cost efficient mainlines yes, and they are pretty versatile, but they do not really excel at anything else. Yes the STG 44s improve DPS at all ranges but it's not an overly impressive improvement compared to certain other weapon upgrades.
To make weapon upgrades choices rather than no brainers is a great concept, and one that I would happily back up, but sadly Relic implemented almost none of them. The game would need to be designed with these choices in mind. However at this point in the game's life cycle, infantry balance is so intertwined, we can't introduce it just for one unit because they would be at a major disadvantage and we'd have to adjust a dozen or more other units just to accommodate it.
+1 for the STG volks. It’s infuriating when usf players scream about them every 5 seconds. |
I used the SU76 a bit. Surprisingly it wasn't that bad, it actually pleasantly surprised me.
In terms of a rework it's fair to say making it cheaper would encourage some pretty bad spamming. Making it stronger could also lead to pretty bad situations when it gets spammed.
Buffing the SU76 could follow the original design of making things do multiple jobs on the battlefield. For instance the T70 can fight inf, scout and cap points. The SU76 can fight vehicles from range, barrage and track, which kinda feels redundant tbh. The recently buffed M5 can be AA and backline support, as well as mobile suppression in early-mid. So what could be done about the SU76:
Idea number 1: Make the barrage free, but change it. The original issue with the free barrage was that all 3-6 SU76s you made instantly barraged a unit for a near guaranteed wipe. This can still be done, but for a lot of munitions. I think the free barrage should be back, but changed to prevent cheese. First of all, you could have the SU76 start unable to barrage, unless it upgrades with HE shells (like pgrens getting shreks or grens mg42) for something like 80 munitions. You could also make the shells themselves less accurate and less lethal, so even en masse it's not a guaranteed kill but 1 barrage will force a unit to reposition. You could also increase the time from ability activation to the first shell, to make it less potent vs moving infantry.
Idea number 2: Replace tracking with a 60 muni ability to buff penetration by 30-40 for 20 seconds.
Idea number 3: Increase rotation speed to make it a bit easier to face enemy tanks trying to dive it. |
I’m not sure about the cost reduction tbh. The unit definitely struggles vs panthers and above without a muni ability, but still very viable vs ostheer T3. Make it cheaper and it will shut down ostheer T3 play. |
