IMO, Vickers is superiour MG due to its ability to actually KILL models, not supress them. It acts like sniper rifle in row of machine-guns.
The only advantage MG42 have is its higher RoF>higher suppression rate, but who need suppresion, when you can easily outflank him due to no-brain positioning most of the time.
Axis needs their MG's to survive throughout early game with no light mg's, light tech and some other basic stuff. Allies - don't. If you still need mg to deal with early game as Allies - l2p.
Y'know what you can do to a vickers? Run inf up through the entire arc and throw a grenade at it.
Y'know what you can't do to a MG42?
