Your error starts from using Thompson as reference. Thompson are weapon upgrades and not default weapons and thus they over-perform especially at mid.
Use the shock PPsh as reference and you will see that commando stens are fine.
Even if I use cons ppsh as damage reference they seem to deal much more steady and reliable damage than stens sometimes. It's strange. Either I'm somehow missing some random mechanic like a huge reload time or... I don't know. |
This thread's point is not "sten underpowered", but was created because I feel like there is some inconsistency with thieir damage even at extreme close range for whatever reason. Does anyone know why? |
Also, I just want to point out that literally every single post except one in the OP creator's recent post history is bitching about anything and everything that the allies have. Ptrs op, literally everything British op, pak deserves barrage ability like zis. He even complained that Stuarts with engine damage move too fast and that friendly fire apparently has a greater effect on axis. Dafuq?
Anyone wondering what that one other post was, it's him saying English isn't his native language to some guy who insulted his communication skills, which is a low blow, regardless of your opinion on the guy. |
Yeah...yesterday the last time. It is ever game the same...build 2 of them..and own the enemy line with this beast....3-4 strikes on OKW base trucks...and the will left the game.
if u manage to save the LM behind ur lines.. (its easy with a bofos&pak in their back) u can bomb the enemy back into the stoneage. nothin speacial skill need...the LM wipes all.
every game, every strike.

what a big fail from you...it is the easiest unit to steal?? I dont want to blame u..but this unit can`t retreat...and every unit which can retreat is much easier to steal than LM.
u cant steal it in 2v2 or above..to many enemy units will kill ur models after take it.
maybe u shoulend play vs easy AI!?
Exactly you idiot. It can't retreat. Which is why it's so EASY TO STEAL. How does that not make sense? Mortars and hmgs can retreat to avoid being stolen. So land mattress is easy to steal. Sure if you try to go all commando on their ass and steal it while it's behind their lines it won't work, but if you roll up with a decent or sizable force during its 20+ second period of vulnerablility and loud advertisement of existence (long setup/teardown time + long and noisy barrage) then you wil probably steal it. It has the shortest range of all artillery units in the game, and is infantry crewed. If you can't steal it, just destroy the gun after you kill the three tommies manning it (4th guy doesn't count as after three it's considered abandoned). So yeah, it is easy to steal, or, failing that, completely destroy. May I remind you that that is 350mp down the drain for a faction that doesn't have cheap infantry in any sense.

Firefly is awesome especially when you can bait slightly damaged axis tanks into their line of fire. Careful positioning can often mean the end of a p4 or even a Panther.
Be careful of StugIIIs, they can closely match your range and if they get off their critical shot you're dead before you can retreat. I have lost many to sneaky critical shots followed by a quick rush with a shreks.
Also, you don't usually need more than 1 usually especially if you carefully vet it up to vet 3. Vet 3 firefly is dangerous to ANY tank (apart from maybe jagdtiger - those things are scary)

Firefly also seems to vet at sonic speed for whatever reason. Maybe it's because it can reliably pen pretty much any tank and I usually field them late game. |
Need to reduce their cost then, if they can't get BARs and will be a support scout sniper unit, they shouldn't cost 290 MP nor 37 MP per model.
Honestly they shouldn't even be that expensive to all in or reinforce in their current state. They're good infantry, but no replacement for rifles. They are a support squad, not elites, as their reinforcement cost would suggest (which is ironically more expensive than both the usf elite units'). |
Not sure if this should go in balance or what.
Recently I learned that the commando's ambush bonus doesn't properly apply in the live version of the game. Before, I thought "wow commando stens must be really trash because even with a huge accuracy buff they don't do super amounts of damage", but now I seem to notice a lot of inconsistancy with their stens' dps for some reason. Sometimes it does good damage, (thompsons are kinda my reference point here, as suppressed stens are actually supposed to have a little more dps, around 16 vs 14) but other times it seems to do not much at all. Not even sure if I'm right or what, just wanted to put this up. Thoughts? |
Brit trenches are the second dumbest mechanic in the game and easily the most abusable. Ie. push early game on cutoff, build trench, occupy with Vickers, voila, gg. Really fun gameplay ensues.
Not like you can just go on the side and attack it with whatever the fuck you please (stgs and flame nades anyone?). Or just make a mortar if you're wehr. Still, should be more hittable by something. Not sure if at weapons should counter a unit garrison buildable though. Bunkers are a little different because they turn into autonomous mg emplacements for 0 pop, some mp and a somewhat high muni cost. Trenches are reliant on a garrisoning vickers, which means your vickers can't be anywhere else. |
the first Thread was about the strong LM...a day later, where i seen that much user say the same..i want to know how much other think it is to strong. So i made the poll.
And..we see...3/4 from all voters think it is to strong. 1/4 are brit players...so they dont want that their fav will be change/ nerf. I understand...but its perform clearly to strong for its price.
And the other 75% are axis players. You'd have to be insane to think land mattress is worth complaining about. Don't forget the 350 manpower and its tiny range coupled with long setup time, long barrage time (mixed blessing) and vulnerable infantry crew, which means its really really easy to steal. Like really easy. Easiest unit in the game to steal. |
