Just some shower thoughts from me, I'd like to say beforehand I have a bias against Epic.

Epic is fine with microsoft having a game such as metro exodus, the main key is to chip down Steam and having a situation with multiple competing stores in which Epic can benefit more from rather than just directly trying to fuck with steam head on.

As for those whom think Epic is like some Chinese entity eating everything up, that's really foolish. Epic is majority owned by an American, and its talent pool is mainly from North America or the west in general, Tencent has like 40 something percent share and was brought on mainly for their expertise of "gaming as a service" from their experiences in Asia.

The current policies are a large result of an American, cancer such as fortnite was originally american, and the decision to accept Tencent's investment as a transition to the gaming as a service was an american decision. Just wanted to brush aside any of the "chinese infiltration, etc" stuff I see on reddit lol when these decisions are from an American company with NA decision making.

But yeah I personally don't like how Epic blatantly lied about how they're against the 30% tax Steam charges developers and then proceeds to deal with Windows store. Also I don't like how Epic bought out easy anti cheat, fucking with Steam's protonplay that I personally make use of because I don't have a windows install on my PC any more so it directly affects me.

If there are too many viable stores ya'll might actually have to resort to using something like this: https://playnite.link/ just to manage your games.

One thing that Epic does benefit a lot from is the proliferation of their game engine UE4, idk what that will lead to but just a random thing i just thought of.
