Thread: OKW - How to deal with british Advanced Emplacements?7 Oct 2016, 17:19 PM Yes, I am aware of that, but that would fall in to the 'cover the whole sector with fire' strategy', as in overwhelm the enemy team with brute force. However, that critical mass of tanks you speak of appears only by the time your VPs are almost completely drained. Not to mention the opponents have tanks of their own to deal with. By the way the problem I described is exactly this: how to capture and hold a point guarded by a Bofors and its support? So suggesting I ignore the Bofors, while strategically sound, is not the answer to the problem. In: OKW Strategies
Thread: OKW early game dominance6 Oct 2016, 17:31 PM I beg to differ; properly used Cons can be a nightmare for OKW. And they add the much needed flame nades and vehicle nades that will stop a fast P2. Anyway, OP, try starting with Tier1. While it leaves you more vulnerable to vehicles, it gives you access to 3 units that OKW simply cannot deal with very effectively early game. 1) Penal battallions - they own OKW infantry early, can equip flamers for clearing garrissons and you can use their demo charges to blow up key defensive structures on the enemy side as well as any OKW trucks deployed in the field. 2) Scout Car - good speed, great chasing power, single squad garrisson. As long as you micro it properly you are not likely to lose it. Volksgrenadiers only get access to nades after the first truck is laid down, which usually doesn't happen sooner than 4-6 minutes into the game. 3) Sniper - technically the Kubel counters the sniper, but that is only true if there is no other infantry around him. A single squad of Cons with a nade (or two without) can punish a diving car very fast. Other than that, the sniper is absolutely one of the best early units to use against OKW, due to their high reinforce cost. Always aim for the highest value targets (eg. Sturmpioneers over Volks, Obersoldaten over Sturmpioneers, etc.). In: COH2 Balance
Thread: October 4th Update5 Oct 2016, 22:16 PM Eh, same thing happenned to the original Dawn of War. I was there, I loved the game and I wept as I saw it dying. Long story short if you feel like reading. It's business folks. There is no more money for them to be made off this game apart from selling extra content. A decent balance patch once or twice a year is better than nothing I suppose though. In: COH2 Gameplay

Eventually you have to retreat, thinking you will come back and hit harder. NOPE! There's a Bofors there, and it's fortified. Can't get close - you get shredded. Can't hit with AT "why hello there, little OKW gun, sucks you are not immune to suppression!" Maybe go indirect fire? You need at least 2 ISGs to match it's repair capacity. Or wait, a Stuka? Don't make me laugh... Btw see that Outpost there? Behind the bofors, next to the mortar? Yeah it can repair shit. And buff it. Maybe try with a tank then? Ok, you got a panther, nice. Buuut there's a QF there. And a Comet. WHAT?! And 2 infantry sections for the whole game, nothing else. Obviously this little story is dramatised and overblown; it's not that big of an issue in 1v1s (though still annoying as fuck) but in teamgames it feels plain broken. Is there any counterplay to this other than 'cover the whole sector with fire'? Any tips will help. In: OKW Strategies

Thread: OKW early game25 Sep 2016, 17:59 PM +1 what Hector said. I had the same problem as you, OP, but eventually I learned to sneak around with my squads. It's mostly down to positioning and cover. Also if you have a Kubel (which you should in most OKW games) and you see an mg in the open (no cover) you should try to damage it a bit; reinforing an Mg will cost your opponent more manpower than you repairing your Kubel which you can do without retreating to your base as long as you have pioneers out there. We were on the far sides of the map in this game so we could hardly cooperate beside exchanging intel. Unfortunately 2 of our opponents left somewhere in the middle of the game; presumably because they deemed it unwinnable. What could either of us improve in our tactics and builds?
