So, the title says it - do most people prefer to use GridKeys with a WASD .ahk script, or do you use regular CoH2 controls with side scrolling/minimap?
Is it worth going through the time to learn how to play using GridKeys and WASD for movement, or is it okay to play stock and scroll? I've put in quite a few hours against AI and such; I tried using GridKeys for a match and absolutely hated it. Is it worth putting in the time to get used to, or is it okay as is?
Things I noted about this game:
- I learned the hard way that 'R' is not the hotkey for Rear Echelon two accidental mortar squads later...
- I chased down that P4 with my Easy Eight not knowing that he'd "Surprise, Tiger!" me.
- Still working on my micro
I'm really looking to improve on how to fight units in buildings (my only strategy is to really avoid them and maybe tech nades, though when he building hops like that I just waste munitions)
hai atlantis srry us strategist guys are all busy mentoring, but either way you got good advice from jespe...Good maxim/con play will go a long way vs ostheer and okw. Also as previously said a fast t70 afterwords should be more than enough to counter grenspam as well.
You could also do Partisans if you get caught off guard by a bunch of 222s or a luchs if you do decide to go penals/t1 though

My problem in this game was that I was denied fuel right from the start, and was unable to rush the T70 like I had planned. I'm going to try some regular Soviet play tonight and see how it goes. Could you recommend a basic build order? 3 conscript 2 maxim? (adjusted for need of course)
I'm never sure how to dislodge the OKW when they make their flak truck on an important place (i.e. cutoff on crossroads, or a fuel point). 1 MG + basic AT means assaulting the truck is extremely difficult, and when they're in such a forward position, they seem to be able to get to the rest of the map much faster than normal. Having troubles as both US and Soviets with this.
I'll try out your suggestions the next time I play. I definitely need to work on my sniper micro, but I see what you mean (sniping one of a four man squad means their firepower is reduced by 25%).
Do you think T1 penal is viable the way I was doing it? Or should I just be using conscripts + maxims?
Thanks a lot for your analysing, Jespe; especially the tip around the 3 minute mark, I see what I did wrong exactly now.
So as a counter to the enemy blobbing, I should make smaller, more "mobile" blobs (like 2 penal squads together?) to go cap and trying to avoid the main blob?
