M8 is not too survivable, and the fact that people are trying to act like it justifies how piss poor it is currently is laughable. Every Axis tank in the game (and brits with Hammer) can press a button to zoom away from fights going poorly. Every Ostheer vehicle has access to smoke with doctrine to make their high armor stock tanks even harder to kill.
The M8a1 is a lategame, mobile indirect support unit like the katy and werfer. Unlike those two, the M8a1 has far less range, less burst damage and capacity to wipe, and less reason to be taken over their factions' other stock vehicles in their tiers. It needs survivability to work at all as a unit, unless someone wants to convince me that it should have the same health as mortar halftracks that hit the field earlier.
The M8a1 needs lethality buffs period. No compromises, no corresponding nerfs. US lategame is known as the weakest in the game, and mainly because of the lack of lategame stock anti-blobbing tools, forcing certain doctrines to cover this hole. The barrage is laughably weak, and the autofire has already been neutered. Increase the AoE of the barrage shells, or give it suppression, or stock WP barrages, or something to make it a consistent anti-blob tool.

show me the german verhicle which can endless barrage from save place all the time without micro and very deadly shells. than we talk about survive. u compare here tanks which must move into fire range from every TD to deal some dmg. scotts fired from above rang 100. see the difference? |

Ullumulu a conscript/gren snare has 4 times more range than a penal snare lol you need to stop charging into ptrs penals with tanks and blob with pgrens bro....
previously you could have gotten 3 assgrens on the field before sov even finished his first penal battalion

at first we should look at the dmg from callins and arty. example:
allies inf can get a full katjuscha or calliope salve onto their head without getting much dmg.
sec: have axis a sticky satchel? no. only one commander from wm give pios satchel which can be trow.
while allies have nondoc and doc options for this, whichdeny completly any dive in, is easy to use, make huge dmg and mostly everytime a dmg engine

Kite with P-4s while spotting with mainlines to kill the elite infantry. P-4s have incredible AI on the main gun, just kill those insanely expensive elite units. Zooks do not have the range. Use MG-42/34 as well, as they WILL suppress those blobs if its A-moved. Or hit it with Shock Arty.
Its the same way Allies deals with Ober blobs. Elite Infantry blobs are a blight.
Historicity isn't really a good reason for balance changes here, the MP could very well be the logistical cost. US had money to throw at the problem.
USF is expected to use their VERY potent LVs to minimize MP bleed in the mid game. Late game everyone bleeds like crazy, and if you are not bleeding your opponent, you WILL lose. Get a Calliope, Pershing, or Dozer/ed Sherman. Or an elite infantry blob. Yea, that means in team games you're probably playing Urban Assault.
Generally, I find the bleed mid-late is due to fighting high AI armor with high price mainlines. The P-4 and Brummbar really slap, with huge 80 dmg areas and pretty solid precision. This shows up early if you don't break the Axis MG lines, so OST can float the MP for fuel caches. Veto Redball Express, and learn to deeeeep flank enemy positions.
all this tips end mostly like like this:
you have p4 to kite? USF has jacksons behind blobbs.
you have MG to stop blobbs? USF has caliope in the back to insta delte your teamweapons and infantry. |
I saw late game Paratroop/Ranger spam is effective. Honestly they're the best elite in the game.
Ranger whos very tough and can hold 3 Zook.
Paratrooper is 6men with assault tactic that can instantly delete any squad. or double M1919.
The tough part is you have to build at least 2 RM to fight early game -> Officer. If you're able to keep these squads. Go to Elite is gonna be MP starve.
Though USF mainly denitely have advantage over Axis's one. Especially a Rear & an officer have smoke (that even late come with Major).

you can even spam B4. and they cost less .
