SNF5 Third Quali Tourney Official RulesBracketshttp://coh2org.challonge.com/SNFS5Quali3 Game SettingsName convention: Players' in-game names must match the Steam names that they used in their registration post. Smurfing and swapping accounts is strictly forbidden. Game setup:
Commanders & BulletinsCommanders released before the SNF Announcement (Oct.21st) are allowed. See list below. Commanders released after the SNF Announcement (Oct.21st), like the Turning Point Update commanders, are not allowed. All Intel Bulletins are allowed. SNF S5 Allowed Commanders List: RegistrationTournaments are open to everyone. Players are asked to register in the "Sign-ups Thread" that will open 8 days before each Saturday tourney. Sign-up threads open on Fridays at 16:00 GMT and close on the following Friday at midnight GMT. Steam Alias and Steam ID# are required from each player. Sign-ups are taken on a first come, first serve basis. Players who sign up after the size breaks (64 or 128, depending on turn-out) will be placed on a Waiting List. Checking-in on Tournament DayOn tournament day, all players will have to check in. To do this, join the COH2.ORG steamgroup chatroom. Simply chat the following message: '<Playername> checking in.' We'll provide a list where you can see if you've been confirmed by the referees. Check-in period will open at 14:00 GMT and will stay open for 90 minutes, until 15:30 GMT. After that we'll make the brackets and you can make your match threads and start your games. SNF Quali Tourney Schedule and MapsThe four Quali Tourneys will be two-day events with early rounds played on Saturday and late rounds played on Sunday. Games on both days start at 16:00 GMT. Saturday November 30th, 2013 note: a Round-of-128 (Best-of-1) on Semoskiy Winter may be added if we have over 200 registrants. The tourney will still start at 16:00 GMT with successive rounds starting later.
Sunday December 1st, 2013
Two survivors of the Quali Tourney will meet the following Sunday in the Best-of-5 Contender Bout. Factions: In Best-of-3's, who plays Allies first will alternate each Round between the top bracket player and the bottom bracket player. Simply look at the top of the Challonge brackets, and you will see either "Top Bracket Player: Allies First" or "Top Bracket Player: Axis First" under each Round. SNF Contender Bouts & Title Fight Schedule and MapsContender Bouts and the Title Fight will be played on Sundays at 16:00 GMT. Maps for these fights will be chosen via the veto system. In the presence of a Referee, in a Steam chat, the Veto process will begin at 16:00 GMT. Veto System: The players take turns and veto maps that they don't want to play. The map pool will be reduced from 7 maps down to the 3 maps that will be played. The player on top of the bracket is the "Blue player" and vetoes first. The other player is the "Red player." Before the match begins:

note: New maps may be added to the pool as they are released. Factions: Starting factions in Best-of-5's will be decided by a referee, before the match, via coin toss. Faction Swapping and Ace Game Faction ChoiceBest-of-1 matches: Mirror matches are allowed in the Best-of-1 series. This is to allow every player to play with his or her favorite faction. Starting positions can be worked out by the players, or "random" can be used if no amicable solution can be reached. Best-of-3 and Best-of-5 matches: These matches will be played in the traditional fashion where each player plays each army one time, then switches for the next game. Best-of-3 match, after a 1-1 tie: In Best-of-3 matches, if there is a tie after 2 games are played, the VP leader gets to chose faction for the 3rd (and last) game. Remember to write down the VP standing after each of the first two games! The losing player will have zero VPs left. If a player is annihilated, their VPs are considered "drained to zero". The VP leader can be found by comparing who had more VPs left in the game that they won. It is up to you to write down & remember the VP standing after each game. If it comes down to the third game, it is up to each individual player to calculate who is ahead on VPs and therefore gets to choose their faction. If you agree to go ahead with the third game, you cannot change your mind after the game has been played, claiming that you didn't know. Best-of-5 match, after a 2-2 tie: A similar system is used in the "ace game" of a Best-of-5. Faction choice still goes to the VP leader. The VP leader is calculated from the VP totals of the first four games. Result SubmissionSave all Replays: All players must save every game played, even when losing. Only one player has to submit the replays, but the referees may ask for the other player's replay for any reason. Posting the Results: Make a match-thread in the "SNF5 Third Quali" forum after the brackets have been released. The threads have to be named like this: "R1: PlayerA vs. PlayerB." Use this topic to get in touch with your opponents and the referees. After your games have been played, post the result of your series in the same thread. Include the score, the winner, and provide the replay of the game(s). Uploading the Replays and linking them in the thread: Once the match is over, one player must upload the replay(s) to our REPLAYS system on COH2.ORG. Give them appropriate names (it's always a good idea to say what Round they're from). Once a game is uploaded, look at the URL in your browser. Example: http://www.coh2.org/replays/6067/r1-ami-vs.-gh-game-1 The number "6067" is the thread ID of the replay. You can use this number to "embed" the replay in a post, like this: Code
Once your victory has been confirmed, a Referee will put you through to the next round on the brackets. Anti-CheatA referee may request that you stream in low quality on Twitch.tv via the in-game streaming options. You should have a Twitch.tv account and the ability to add a password to your stream channel. It is your responsibility to prepare for this possibility. Players will be selected at random and asked to stream their games. If you do not stream upon a referee's request, you will be disqualified. If you're having problems setting up your stream, please check Inverse' guide on how to setup your stream on twitch.tv at http://www.coh2.org/guides/1960/streaming-on-twitch.tv Or use the in-game streaming program. AdjudicationsIf any problem occurs that isn't covered in the rules, the tournament referees will have the final decision and all players must abide by their decision. Late arrivals: Please note that despite the best intentions of everyone involved, tournaments can sometimes take longer than expected. Therefore, we ask that players be available for the potential duration of the tournament and that they be patient. Players who are more than 10 minutes late for their R1 match will be disqualified. Exploits and bug abuse: Any player caught using an exploit or bug abusing will be immediately disqualified from the tournament. If you suspect your opponent used an exploit or abused a bug, please contact a referee before you start your next game. Incorrect Settings or Server Crash: In the event that matches aren't played with the correct game settings, the server goes down, or a game drops for both players, the game will have to be replayed. Kicking: Kicking anyone from a game is not allowed Connection issues: In the event that you absolutely cannot connect to your opponent due to NAT failures or other problems, the Referees may decide to shuffle you around in the brackets to try to find someone you can connect to. In the worst case scenario, if you cannot connect to any opponent after several attempts, you may be kicked from the tournament. Cheating: We take intentional dropping/cheating very seriously. Any player caught doing either will be immediately disqualified from the tournament and barred from future COH2.ORG tournaments. Unforeseen events: In the event of a drop, or any other problem, both players should take manual screenshots and save the replay. It is your job to provide us all the necessary information, and if you can't provide it, we will not be able to help you. One minute allowance: If a player drops from the game before 1 minute for any reason, the game has to be restarted. There is a 1 minute allowance to make sure you all don't have a really bad connection to each other. In the event of this, restart your game and try again. Late disconnection: If the game crashes after the one minute allowance, we are asking both teams to be as fair as possible regarding the situation and try to discuss and agree on the best solution for all. However, as previously stated, the final decision will rest with the tournament referees. *The decisions of the referees are not open for discussion during the tournament and are to be accepted. Any complaints/questions regarding these decisions can be sent to our Tournnament Director, GeneralHell . It was 2 wins after 6 games, but yeah, TOTALLY. Looks like Carlsen will be crowned the new World Champion very very soon. Totally uninspired play from Anand in G7 and G8, then he risks it all on G9 today and gets stomped again! Thanks Flash for putting fancy colors on pictures to make this problem even more clear and more obvious. We've been complaining about this commander system since beta. Instead of getting better, it's getting much, much worse, as more poorly balanced commanders are piled on to the already overblown collection. Removing the strategic choice between Left-Hand-Side and Right-Hand-Side has never made sense. Putting global upgrades (like PPsH, Smoke, FHQ, etc etc) into a Commander makes the core game more shallow with less strategic variance in each game. Flashing yellow lights as CPs count to 25 is just like WTF how could this pass any design test? When a game goes deep and 19 CPs flash big yellow icons in my face I'm just thinking to myself, "WTF is Relic trolling me? Is this a joke?" I hate that commander abilities auto-unlock. FYI Rocky, from our feature on SiberianPlatoon: This game was relatively smooth sailing and hence Armor Company was chosen. Armor was chosen in 5/13 games: it acts as the go-to-Doctrine when no doctrinal aid is required in the early or mid game.
