played around with it some more
it's a bit much for the timing against ostheer. this is not really arguable, it's like a t-70 that arrives ~1:30 earlier, so you have to blindly rush for t2 and get a pak out as soon as the game starts.
however, the AEC does seem reasonable against okw's anti-everything volks + luchs build. you can inflict some manpower bleed to the schreck blob with a tommy screen, and drive off lone squads capping on the flanks where it used to be laughed at.
as an aside, what bothers me a lot is that the AEC is substantially stronger than the godawful T-34/76 at killing infantry, while not being much worse at fighting tanks. |
tested it out
it does feel excessive against the wehrmacht, i think it's fine against okw |
Even the volks schreck is having problem against it
working as intended |
cons are fine, the problem is that volks are about as strong early game but scale so much better. |
i don't think bringing back release ram that would 100% destroy main gun on target would be out of line with the current power creep |
t34/85 needs to be baseline if soviet t4 is going to be as shitty and overpriced as it is |
Volks themselves aren't the real problem, it's the dumb scaling and safe transition massing them gives you.
You can't mass conscripts without seriously crippling your timing on vehicles, and they need upgrades to be researched, chewing away at ~3min worth of manpower income alone away from your other tech.
Volks upgrades are all unlocked for free as part of the standard tech path, so you can freely invest all your MP without worrying about being punished for it. If you build 5+ Cons as Soviets and lose the early engagement, your game is basically done - if you build 5+ Volks and lose the early engagement, it's fine because Allies can't punish you much if you pull back and camp on your gas with schrecks/flak HQ.
OKW tech needs to be delayed substantially - if their early game is going to be buffed to Soviet levels, their mid/late game shouldn't be as easily accessible as it is. |
The /76 is a worthless garbage manpower sink, by the time you tech to it Ost has their PIV out and OKW schreck blob has reached critical mass to alpha strike your 340MP/80F trash can.
It used to be worth investing into when it arrived 4+ minutes earlier than it does now since you could take advantage of its shock value and it would scale it into a semi-useful flanking tank/meatshield support for your high value call-ins. Now it's just a forgotten, unusuable piece of shit like Penals, Conscript PTRS/SMGs, and Katyushas. |

piats don't have homing guidance the way schrecks do.
most of the problems with OKW right now are entirely the result of their teching being far too inexpensive for what you get. it gives you the freedom to over-invest in volks because of how easily/cheaply they scale.
i don't think the luchs as a unit is an issue, it's just that you can easily transition out of it with lower risk than allied-equivalent strategies since you pick up the tech for schrecks/flame grenades already. |

The timing on the Luchs is ridiculous. I have no idea how to play OKW at all and I beat random top-100 players just rushing Luchs with Volksblob.
You sacrifice basically nothing because you can invest super heavily into T0 volks and transition fine because they scale into the best AT infantry in the game. Relic needs to add a fuel gate, it's just bonkers how stupid early Luchs arrives. |
