I find that in CoH1, I was ALWAYS losing track of my units. I order a new unit, I forget about it until I look back in my base 5 minutes later.
In CoH2, you have all your units in the top right corner, which I think in ingenious. It tells your if they're in combat, idle, their health. Also, the announcer tells you if a new unit has arrived on the battlefield, and it flashes it on the minimap (correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure CoH1 didn't have this). On the minimap, you can individually tell snipers apart from MGs, AT guns no longer have the same icon as tanks, little things like these really matter.
It's pretty painful every time I try to enjoy CoH1 again, I just feel like it's not as organized. |
This is brilliant, Soviets definitely need a revamp. These changes are all I wanted. Hopefully Relic will read this, and hopefully this will come some time in the new year.

If the satchel charge bug was fixed, and Penal Battalions had access to AT nades, I'd go T1 a lot more. Nowadays, I only go T1 for the Scout Car to kill those pesky kubels. After the December patch, though, I probably won't ever go T1.

Trip wires are good for conscripts, but they are on every single Soviet infantry vet 1, which is pretty useless. Same with Soviet vehicles, German tanks get BLITZ as their vet 1 ability. What do Soviet tanks get? To cap points, which I'm sure is very useful in tank combat.

Yes, but it's not very efficient as a combat unit as you have to keep it moving all the time or risk setting up at close range.

Another question: If I crew mortar with a shock troopers, reinforce it all the way (6 men in total), can I run my mortar around as if it were a 5 man shock troop squad? Do the shock troops keep the same stats? |
Do Guards have any body armor like shock troops? Because I'm wondering if it's better to merge Conscripts into Guards (saving manpower), or just reinforce the Guards. |

Stuka 1 shots any ambient building and team weapons, I think the default cooldown is OK the way it is.
However, it's much too hard to get veterency on a lot of units, including stukas. The veterency requirement should be lowered instead. |
