I think I would just require more tech to be built before you can call-in a heavy tank, that way they would still be good in team games and in 1's. Maybe just require USF, Soviets, and OKW to have to pay tech costs similar to that of the Crocodile and Tiger Ace since I feel those heavies don't come too early. Ostheer Tiger probably should require Tier 4 to be built as well. |
The only thing about Rangers I would change is making them 9 popcap instead of 10 so you can get more than 1 squad of them. |
I would say Heavies with the exception of the Croc and Tiger Ace should require more tech at the moment. At least require all tech structures to be built similar to how the King Tiger is called in. At least this way it delays them but without making it as random as how CP's can be. |

Biggest issue tends to be the houses on both sides of the map on each players cutoff for their closer fuel. I would say you can keep the building but maybe move the far fuel closer or at least reduce the number of windows so they are easier to clear for factions that don't have non-doc flamers. Houses could also just get removed in general and it would probably be fine. |
Honestly look into fixing heavy tanks and remove the reinforce cost reduction that Cons get with the Mobilized Reserves upgrade since the bonuses they get in cover are already quite good and allow them to trade well regardless. If the IS-2 and KV-2 are toned down and Cons are slightly toned down that would be fine. |
Garrisons being placed near or on cutoffs are the biggest problem with these maps although it's not as bad on Novgorod. Especially when the cutoffs dictate if you are able to hold your close fuel point. I still think there are older maps that are generally worse and Lost Glider North is probably my least favorite spawn in 1v1. |
Yeah, I pretty much have 1 of these two maps veto'd at all times, but we got an extra veto with Crossroads Winter because WhiteFlash is a beast. |
This thread is a complete mess but I think it's pretty simple.
2 out of these 3 things need to be toned down slightly.
1. 7-man Cons, make the upgrade come earlier by not requiring Molo's and AT Nades but remove the stat bonuses in cover that Cons receive since they can build sandbags by default and maybe look to slightly tweak reinforce cost so they don't make Ostruppen completely worthless against them even with an LMG you have to get BP3 to be able to upgrade.
2. T-70, this unit simply kills infantry faster than any other light vehicle in the game, of course it loses to a Puma but it applies so much pressure that you simply bleed to death if you don't either build a Puma(OKW)or have it hit a teller mine(OST). Make the unit more like the Panzer II, I think it should still be better than the P2 since it comes later but reduce its cost to maybe something similar to the M8 Greyhound. Maybe slightly tone down the OKW Puma so it doesn't bully the SU-76 so hard and so Soviet Tier 3 has some defined roles instead of T-70 doing everything.
3. Doctrinal Heavy Tanks (IS-2,OST/OKW Tiger,Pershing), Heavies come too early for their performance so either increase all heavies CP cost by 2-3 CP's or require further tech like the King Tiger so they are delayed by at least a couple minutes. Or if they are going to continue to remain at the current timing they need to have their scatter looked at since most of them wipe infantry far too quickly making them a nightmare to deal with without a heavy of your own or multiple AT guns/ tank destroyers. Although the Jackson/SU-85 may be slightly overtuned at the moment as well but nerf the heavies first. |
Really it's not rocket science as to why Soviets slightly overperform at the moment. The 7-man upgrade is too powerful currently for its cost, this doesn't necessarily mean the upgrade comes too early as Cons still aren't amazing early game but they are probably the most cost-efficient squad in the entire game once they are bolstered and vetted up. At only 17 mp reinforce cost they are roided up versions of Ostruppen. I would be for the upgrade itself receiving some nerfs, maybe an increase in cost and possibly some slight nerfs to performance in cover to make them a little less efficient against certain units. In change you could make the upgrade not require molo's and AT Nades and be up-gradable once you build Tier 3. The T-70 is in an odd state because it does come late but it is the strongest light tank in the game against infantry and can swing the entire game almost immediately if counters aren't present. I'm not sure if the problem is the T-70 being so strong against infantry that you almost have to go for a Puma to counter or if the Raketen is just too squishy against the T-70. I feel the T-70 could probably be made cheaper but have its performance reduced slightly to compensate making it more like the Panzer II so the SU-76 can fill a Puma-like role in Soviet Tier 3. Plus if T-70 gets toned down we could see more M5's which would be nice. Heavies in general need to be changed but the IS-2 just does everything well. With reduced scatter it no longer struggles against infantry and can wipe units rapidly with decent RNG, it also has really strong armor and can come pretty early at 10 CP. Which can often be a disaster for a player who opted for a medium tank before going for armor that can deal with the IS-2. In general heavies probably need to be delayed somehow, maybe an increase in cost, CP's, or further tech requirements for them. At least for the Pershing, IS-2, and possibly the Ostheer Tiger. |
Honestly I would just look into toning down USF and Soviets primarily, if they are both toned down that is technically a buff for Ostheer and Brits who are struggling at the moment and I think OKW should be the faction the game is currently balanced around for this next patch. Even though I used to hold the belief that Ostheer should be the faction the game is balanced around I feel the powercreep has gotten out of control and I don't want to see any more buffs to OKW, Brits, and Ostheer since USF and Soviets are currently too lethal as it stands. I personally actually preferred the GCS2 meta because USF wasn't too strong and Ostheer was arguably as viable as OKW. Heavies were still the meta but to be honest they weren't as strong performance-wise and while you didn't need to tech to get them, they were weaker in big team games and didn't come as early in 1v1 games due to the increased amount of CP's. Heavy tanks got buffed across the board and that has made them overperform relative to their timing. They either need a CP increase or increased teching costs, or if neither of those changes are implemented at least look at nerfing the scatter on main guns so infantry aren't being nuked in 1-2 shots regardless of vet. This is especially a problem with the IS2 and Pershing but the Tiger can be really nasty at points as well. |
