Great pics. I don't do this stuff myself, but I love that it happens, as well as the HEMA scene (for the most part). I own a replica Norman sword myself, and went to see some jousting at the Royal Armouries in Leeds some years back; saw Dr Tobias Capwell fight. After his bout, he had a dent in his harness big enough that you could slide a finger between the plates. |
Seeing as my last attempt to gee-up some interest in custom maps ended in dismal failure, I've decided to try another approach.
I propose to do reviews of maps made by contributors, and to post that review in this thread. This will hopefully be useful, both because it's difficult to judge anything about a map from the Steam workshop thumbnail, and to raise the profiles of both maps and mappers.
Now please note, I claim no special expertise or insight into maps, or hell, even into the game. I only want to do this because nobody more competent is already doing it. I'm also not in a position to help anyone with map design or construction, so I'm not interested in incomplete work. I'm only interested in looking at maps which are already published in the Workshop and ready for showtime.
If you want a map reviewed, please PM me rather than posting here. Send me a link to the workshop, and I'll take a look at it. First come first served. |
The question was about the pic on the right, not the left. Here it is:

Also, again, Britain does not want a Europe dominated by a single power; so there is no way it would have been content to simply let Germany have Poland, the Balkans, and piece of France too.
But this is a pointless question, because Hitler was pretty much one big bag of mistakes. His entire understanding to the world, as articulated in Mein Kampf, is just plain wrong.
These are after all people who rejected Einstien's theory of relativity because it was "Jewish Science" and invented a completely fictitious "Ice World" cosmology as being more congenial to their ideology. The SS had an honourary officer - a Major I think - because he claimed to be the reincarnated spirit of an ancient Germanic king. They renovated Wewelsburg castle, at a time when they had much more pressing military uses for those resources, because of some prophecy about how it would be site of a noble last stand.
Expecting the Nazis to make reasonable, logical decisions is a waste of time, because that is not what they are about. |
On the whole, interesting proposition, will be interested to see it in action. Most of it I like, some of it I really dislike, we'll see how it works in practice. |
maybe you didn't understand the aim of this mod, make coh 2 a bit less RNG and a bit more based on skill.
RNG and skill are not opposed
But i see on your playercard that you are a 4 vs 4 player, so i guess your review doesn't even count.

That's the whole point... This shouldn't even be possible.
Yes, well, neither should Donald Trump. The world is what it is.
Sometimes it appears to me that people level complaints at Relic as if they were something like FIFA. These people are makers of video games - they are not professional tournament organisers. in fact they are not a sporting body of any kind.
In this case, the non-pro organisers put out some poorly thought out text that the non-pro players didn't read too closely if at all, and the gooey stuff duly hit the fan. Fuck-ups happen. Recognise it for what it is, and move on.

I think they are bad for the game, in the sense of making the upgrade more important than the squad carrying them. And seeing as in CoH2, unlike CoH1, individual Axis models have no more HP than Allied models, I don't see that the US needs them. This is IMo a case of keeping something that worked in CoH1 without noticing that the context in which it operates has changed. |
Getting just a touch obvious, no?
Can't see what interest speeches have to those interested in military, rather than political, history. Not even as if he was any great thinker, anyway. |
It's an unfortunate situation all round, but I don't think Relic have behaved improperly.
It's entirely normal for a company sponsoring an event to want it to be public. That's why they do it after all, more eyeballs, higher profile. If a competitor can't make it to the venue, that's a problem.
For the rest of us, there's some lemonade to be made. Just think, we can all spend the next twelve months discussing whether whoever is eventually crowned could have beaten Noggano, the King Over The Water. It will be great fun. There could be grudge matches, there will be discussion any time these three go against each other. It's all grist for the entertainment mill. |
