Unless 2-3 Obers squads are approaching with that Panther. AT Gun can do a pudding then.
The problem with Panther is that it does not have any weak point.
Let's look at rest Tank Hunters.
SU - no turret, no MG, slow, easy to flank.
Jackson - glass cannon, useless on narrow maps when facing Jadgpanzer.
Elephnat & Jadgtiger - no turret, very, very slow, no MG
Panther - range between tanks and tank hunters, great armor, great penetration, MG, blitz making it a race tank, smoke. No weak points.
It's weak point is the fact it's armor outside the frontal is weak, if he is charging through your lines to get at your tanks throw some AT grenades to snare him, then hit him with AT guns and your Tank Destroyers.
If your opponent has 2-3 Obers just laugh in his face as that Panther will probably be his only AT, so when it dies because he overreached like an idiot he will be SOL and your mediums can eat his Obers. Seriously 3 Obers is insanely excessive. |
I still don't get why people do understand why I don't like the Puma, it's not that the unit is bad, it isn't, but it just isn't as good as the fuel and manpower you could be spending on other things like a Schwer.
The reduced fuel income for OKW makes it so a wrong choice in build order can lose you the game easily, and it would be even worse if you made OKW's base unit it relies on so much bad.
Also the idea Sturms should get the Shreks is laughable, most players wouldn't do it as those StG 44's are vital for keeping allied early game infantry at bay. |
If your opponent is spamming Panthers get AT guns and AT grenades and laugh as he tries to use a Tank Hunter to kill infantry. Seriously there is really not all that much a panther can do about massed infantry, even a large amount of Zooks will fuck it up hard if you hit somewhere other than the front armor.
A person who over extendeds with Panthers is an idiot, and you should punish him with a nice AT grenade to the rear and some ZiS love. |
It is comedy gold to see people who actually think US versus Ostheer is totally fine. Despite literally all evidence to the contrary people still believe in the "Axis OP" myth. |
You can't possibly believe what you've just said here.
If you lost puma to small arms that wasn't incendiary rounds HMG42, then you have some serious micro issues.
Also mid game is where light and medium armor shows up-the targets that puma have no problems with given you have more micro then a-moving 4v4 axis player.
Dies means "Is damaged by" the 50. call actually does not insignificant damage to it and combined with the Puma's low health just makes it lackluster overall. |
except Stuarts are useless without support. Atleast Shermans can hold the line while the infantry is reinforcing. And even the smallest mistake with the Stuarts will get them wiped in a blink of the eye.
I said Scott, not Stuart. |
Puma dies to small arms fire and is total garbage the minute the mid game comes, your just wasting your fuel. Honestly it's been said before and will be said by Relic a million time, you would need to fundamentally change a lot of stuff about OKW to get rid of the shrek crutch. |
Until the 4-6 random game freeze happens causing you to lose your Paper Sherman. For this reason I prefer a tank that works best when ~not~ sat at the front lines were it can die to shreks. |
To elaborate: At 110 fuel the Sherman doesn't really do much AT wise, and thus is almost always used for AI. But this just means you are much better off getting a Scott, a dedicated AI tank, for 80 fuel.
|
The sherman is a POS that will die to a well microed gang of volk shreks every time. I would much rather have something doing consistent squad wipes like a Scott rather than something that is basically useless as AT, and it's AI ability is extremely RNG based. |
