Variation of units is just variation, not flexibility. Well, if your micro can't handle with coordination of 4 tanks at once, I feel sorry for you. But in hands of a quite good player 4 Pz4 are more deadly than Tiger or Elephant. Same for T34. I have in loadout doctrines without ISU, IS, T34/85, only T34/76 spam and guess what, it's damn deadly. It's way easier to deal with 1 huge target like IS2, than with few smaller coming from all sides. But if you can't handle IS2, ISU, T34/85, Tiger, Elephnat, Panther meta, that's your problem. I break meta very often and Im quite susscefull with this Have not use any call in in 4v2 for 2 weeks as soviets - all wins. It's all about micro rather than A-move with IS2, and my 6-8 T34/76 are always more devastating than 2 IS2s. It's not a matter of micro, but your PIV's are going to get raped HARD when facing Jacksons and IS2/T34/85s. You need the Elefant to break up enemy armor units like the ISU and IS2 because your dinky little PIV's aren't going to do shit to his 122mm gun and 375 frontal armor IS2. 6 T34's are overwhelming, but fuck if your ever going to get that in anything lower than 4's, and if can micro their heavies your T34's are going to be sitting in the scrap heap. Soviets have a buttload of variation in what toys/strats they have to play with that are viable, so what if you don't have an AT gun in t1? If your doing call in trickery go t1 - t2 and wait for support. Or just go t2 and get support weapons that you back up with cons/shocks, get a guard or two sometimes to deal with OKW light vehicles. You can break away from the meta, but someone who knows how to counter you will pistol whip you with better micro and unit choice. In: Scrap Yard
Thread: Proposal - Slowing down the heavies.13 Mar 2015, 08:07 AM The secret here is to remove abilities like Blitz and Overclock from heavy tanks, and to increase the acceleration of medium tanks in order for mediums to have an edge over heavy tanks rather than making a pointless change like reducing heavy max speed which does nothing but allow the heavy tank hit it's speed cap faster. And again, coming from the boohoo allied crowd this change seems rather insane considering it would kneecap the IS2 and KV1 which actually have fairly decent top speed. In: COH2 Bugs

Also, since you seem to not know this, blietz INCREASES SPEED and decreases chances to get hit. Slowing down heavies where mediums can actually outrun them would be one of the nice ideas. Heavies basically need anything for a disadvantage so there actually is a point and alternative to make mediums. You ponce, you have no idea how acceleration and max speed works. Most tanks in this game have similar speed but heavies have lower acceleration. The reason they take the same amount of time to reach top speed is that they have lower top speeds. T34: Max speed is 6.5 but it's acceleration is 2.3 so it will reach it's max speed in 2.8 seconds. KV1: Max speed is 5.1 but it's acceleration is 1.6 so it will reach it's max speed in 3.1 seconds. Tiger: Max speed is 4.7 but it's acceleration is 1.5 so it will reach it's max speed in 3.1 seconds. PIV: Max speed of 6.3 but it's acceleration is 2.1 so it will reach it's max speed in exactly 3 seconds. IS2: Max speed of 5 but it's acceleration is 1.7 so it will reach it's max speed in exactly 2.9 seconds The KT is the biggest outlier here, with a whooping 3.8 max speed and a acceleration of 1.4, so it's not really going anywhere fast. A nerf to heavies movement speed would literally change nothing except for allowing them to hit their max speed quicker. And most heavies never hit full burn anyway due to the amount of world objects they normally need to path around or deal with. In: COH2 Bugs

The result would be similar. And it would add the fun of deciding whether to turn your Tiger around and try to get home while getting your ass torn to pieces by Shermans or to reverse slowly. Both don't need a option to insta increase accel and speed, but having an option for the KT that increases ROF at the cost of a heavy amount of munitions makes more sense. OKW and USF lack support weapons teams, so it's most just two hordes of infantry charging into each other. And the Ostheer support weapons are fragile and expensive (but good, you do need to use combined arms). With soviets my army will always be extremely diverse, a combination of support weapons 2 infantry classes support by Engineers. It's something you don't see with any other faction. In: Scrap Yard

The acceleration it gives is much better than the speed (although it giving extra speed is great), because it lets you reach your max quickly so when it wears off your still costing at your top KpH. Still, said abilities shouldn't be on the KT and Tiger, both should have an ability that increases their ROF (or range maybe?) at the cost of a heavy amount of muni talking about infantry wipage that many heavy tanks are capable of every shot. It's ultimately all RNG, killing infantry isn't the issue with the heavy tanks, it's the ability to replace said heavies because they are call in units which make them cheaper then teching. Ironically the most balanced heavy in the game is the KT, because it's gated behind teching like all heavy tanks should be. In: COH2 Bugs

No need to overcomplicate things. Its also beyond the relationship between medium tanks and heavy tanks, so then everything with AT potential would need to be adjusted and that would be very unnecessary... But heavies are already less maneuverable than mediums, so it doesn't make a terrible amount of sense to lower the max speed when they only rarely hit it. One needs to look at why they require so little micro; which has to do with way fuel income works and how replaceable they are. And to keep a heavy tank being effective when there is a large amount of AT on the field you need to be pretty quick on the reaction due to the slow acceleration. I have to agree with pig here. Mediums are great as they currently are vs. each other and in large enough numbers vs. heavies. Mediums have the right balance of HP right now (besides the /85 and e8, but they are heavy-mediums). The problem is that heavies can quickly make their way from one side of the battlefield in order to cut off any attempt at harassment where they aren't. In this way, the panther would become a much more interesting unit as it would be able to guard against fast moving mediums, making ostheer t4 more viable effectiveness-wise vs. heavies as they should be. The problem here is that heavies can move a fair distance once they can hit their max speed, but this doesn't change how much micro they need or how hard it is to kill them. If you want to take blitz off the KT and Tiger that's fine, but their slow acceleration makes it hard for them to quickly escape a sticky situation. If you want to make players play more conservatively with heavies then reduce the players ability to replace them. A player who has no way to replace a tank will be very stingy and careful with that one tank. In: COH2 Bugs
