I think war spoils is great for skins, bulletins, and face plates. For Commanders however, it is a little ridiculous.
The rarity, duplicates, and abundance of possible rewards makes the whole system frustrating when Commanders are in the mix. It's great to be rewarded with a new skin but when you're focused on hunting for Commanders a new bulletin just tends to disappoint you when otherwise you'd be happy.
They should just take the plunge and finally do what they should have done all along...and that is to tie ALL the Commanders to rank levels to be earned at realistic intervals. Think of all the turmoil and bad press this game could have avoided by just doing this from the start.
I understand Relic needs to keep the lights on so I'm not totally against monetizing through DLC but that DLC should be substantial (Theater or War, new campaigns, new armies) not through the nickel and dime process of selling commanders. |
This is a problem that effects all factions but the US faction in particular. The US faction was built around flexibility and mobility but because of this fault it is common to set up elaborate flanks only to have them fire at the wrong targets as you try to get them in and out of the battle quickly.
At the very least vehicles should default shoot at their hard counters. Preferably they should institute a system where you could give separate commands for the turret and driver.

i dont mind duplicates. i got three 'rare' 5% increase fire rate for sherman. so if i stack them i get 15% fire rate i presume which is pretty sweet.
I highly doubt they stack like that. Bulletins are intended to be slight passive increases. A 15% increased fire rate on a factions MBT is not slight. |

The rarity, duplicates, and the abundance of possible rewards makes the whole system frustrating when it comes down to Commanders. It's fun to be rewarded with different skins or a new bulletin but when you're hunting for Commanders it devalues the other rewards which just tend to disappoint you when otherwise you'd probably be pretty happy with them.

That being said this issue could also be solved by allowing players to set their own hotkeys. WHAAAA!? Custom hotkeys in an RTS!? What a novel idea!
I would immediately change the idle infantry and idle vehicle button to something other than the horrible combination of alt+, it currently is. |
That'd be cool, but I don't like the idea of giving dual monitor players a tactical advantage for having a better set up.
Yeah, this is definitely an important consideration.
I feel like the Tactical map is underused by many players being that the hot key is numberpad 0 and this is so far away from where your hand is when using grid keys. Having dual monitor support would increase the use of this important feature. |
What do you think about dual monitor support where the second monitor will always show the tactical map? |
You get a War Spoils drop after x number of hours. You can get multiple drops in a day, as long as you've played x, 2x, 3x and so on hours.
I know this is new information but do we know the X value for this current patch? |
I'd agree that most competitive players that are high on the ladder may not use the feature (perhaps some would, for the the extra challenge).
I don't see how selecting 1 anti-infantry commander, 1 anti-armor commander, and 1 random commander "butchers" the concept of tactical choice. I think it provides for an extra challenge and and takes advantage of good commanders that don't have the same "awesomeness" appeal as bring a Tiger or ISU onto the field. |
I think we can all agree that the game would be improved by a random army option but what about being able to fill one of the three commander slots with a "?" icon and have a commander selected for you at random at the match loading screen.
In my ideal scenario you'd be able to fill up to all three slots with the "?" icon. Leaving anywhere from one to all three of your commander choices up to chance.
I think this would allow for the occasional use of lesser selected commanders which would add increased variety to the game.
