Dear Noun, Relic, Sega,
Since 2008 I am a solid player of the Company of Heroes franchise (1000+hours).
With this post i hope to bring the game to the next level:
- Increase playability
- Increase fun factor
- Increase play time
- Increase increase positive positive
First of all I HATE it that the game is so COOL and its potential is so underused.
Any new people where I show the game and start playing it, become addicted!
But it should be more people that play the game!
My suggested changes have in mind predominantly to improve the online game play in teamgames;
The current bulletin thing is a mediocre thing, also that there are that many commanders. This creates confusion in how to set up your load out etc.
Of course SEGA thinks damn there is no way back:
wrong all collected bulletins and commanders can be exchanged to give away free armies, coh2 access keys, or get different units.
For now you are limited as player in game to your pre selected commanders.
This is not bad but should be limited somehow to preselecting where you specialise on very simply in following fields, including some new innovations:
- Airborne
*infantry parachutists are possible for all factions except the OKW, creating a reason to have WEHR in team games
*supply by air is possible but expensive, this helping in team games to continue fighting when in small teritorry or when abandoning fuel point capture tactic
- Infantry
*Will be more susceptible to heavy explosions, meaning being close to heavy explosions makes them distorted, less effective (accuracy, speed) and so they need medical attention, this to increase medics usage - logistic support fall back points usage
*Is better able to assault Armor, but this with great danger
- Armor - Vehicles
*Medium and Heavy armor no longer is hindered by buildings if a player chooses to crush a house it is possible to drive through killing its occupants.
*Armor can take infantry on top to increase the coordination together in which they can form an assault in surprise
*Armor again is able to crush more; infantry more clear why the hell infantry can jump now magically away, this wil increase the value of armor even a light tank or halftrack.
*Halftracks buying one in game makes me sad, they drive too fast, bad motor sound and idiotic that small arms fire still can damage them, like in the end scene of the movie of saving private ryan a halftrack should be for all parties a somehow mobile pillbox
*Tanks have a more realistic acceleration implying they have a better top speed, but it takes them longer to reach it.
*Armor
- Logistics (yes you read it well, this element could be brought in more efficient.)
*Current sector combat works pretty well, however the possibilities to invest more in a sector except for a fuel or munitions depot is very limited. This should be changed into being able to jointly build in team games a logistics depot (bunker, ammo, medic, repair etc).
*More choices amongst team players should exist to transfer resources amongst their bases, this will also bring in a more interesting dynamic and increase the value of a base rush.
Example of improved situation;
1. start coh 2
2. go online and pick one of the 4 armies
3. i select what kind of general i am an airborne commander or more armor
4. team game starts, when loaded team has 1 minute to determine which global upgrades they wish to have that game (like counterstrike load out selection)
5. game begins
USA no more bulletins - excessive commanders, but simplicity
Now each USA player can preselect one special call in unit - ability in each of the categories:
ARMOR - pershing - wolverine - bulldozer sherman (should be global upgrade)- easy eight
LOGISTICS - logistics depot either mechanic or resources
AIRBORNE - paratroops with at or without - thunderbolt
ARTILLERY- pre choose what heavy arty - mortars are standard available
Soviets no more bulletins - excessive commanders, but simplicity
Now each SOVIET player can preselect one special call in unit - ability in each of the categories:
ARMOR - ISU (different types) - STALIN IS2 - KV1-8 series incl. flamer (8 s*cks anyway)
AIRBORNE - conscript mania drop a large force of 10 conscripts is dropped 500MP
INFANTRY - guards or shocks - or cheaper conscripts upgrades
ARTILLERY- pre choose what heavy arty - mortars are standard available
OKW no more bulletins - excessive commanders, but simplicity
Now each OKW player can preselect one special call in unit - ability in each of the categories:
ARMOR - King tiger or Tiger - Jagdtiger (causes also more infantry damage)
LOGISTICS - logistics depot either mechanic or resources
INFANTRY - more sturm oriented troops heavier assault grenade packagtes
ARTILLERY- pre choose what heavy arty - mortars are standard available
Wehr no more bulletins - excessive commanders, but simplicity
Now each Wehr player can preselect one special call in unit - ability in each of the categories:
ARMOR - tiger - elefant(causes also more infantry damage)
LOGISTICS - logistics depot either mechanic or resources
INFANTRY - guards or shocks
ARTILLERY- pre choose what heavy arty - mortars are standard available
Airborne- Fallschirmjaeger drop incl raketenwerfer or infantry geschutz
