Can we just have the B4 back in it?
It never had a B4 in it. It had an over-the-top bombing run and salvage when originally released. It does need to be reworked, but any commander without Mark Target and some type of tank that can chase something down is always going to be a worse "tank hunter" than Mechanised Support or Guard Motor.
I would like to see a "command" T34/85 added to it, which has a 20% reload aura and Mark Target as an ability.
PTRS penals would need to be reworked. They're okay in small games, but bad in large games. |
I've encountered a bug where units don't want to retreat. If I have 2 units selected and press retreat, both will pop up retreat icons, but one will then disappear and one squad won't retreat.
It's happened a few times but I can't reproduce it yet but who knows. Maybe something is up with the network code and orders are getting dropped. Or maybe my internet just sucks...
I don't think it's an internet problem. It happens to me and others. I use Discord and it's not uncommon to hear someone dropping F(effen)-bombs combined with "retreat." |
Why is that?
I'm curious as to why Axis is easier.
I'm pretty sure he is specifically talking about 1000+ranking. At your level, I don't think Axis is easier. I'm not sure it's harder though. My main 3v3 group (ranked a little worse than you) has a difference of 0.005 in win ratio between Axis and Allies. For as much as people want to complain, the last couple patches have really balanced out Axis and Allies across game modes.
Several patches ago (before the current balance team), I made the following account when I thought the patch was crap:
https://www.coh2.org/ladders/playercard/viewBoard/10/steamid/76561198351144414
I'm pretty sure I couldn't duplicate that with any faction right now. |
In rank 16 3v3, I get UKF players which spam mortars around the map and wonder why the axis nukes the s*** out of them or flametruck's them, or soviets rushing penals vs OST MGs and holding the 2nd point from the base (1 before the mid VP) and doing nothing. It's random AF.
Even when I was rank 18 I'd get players that bunker down on large flank maps. It's just the way it is, finding a decent team these days is hard, but I do come across some good players. However, I did notice that there is a larger pool of good players on Axis side (the ratio of search is 60/40 in favor of Axis so it could be it)
I think it depends a lot on the time of day. When the Europeans are playing, I'd agree with you. When it's in the evening on the US west coast, it switches.
I just had a game on La Gleize where someone, whose base was on right side, went all the way to the left and started building emplacements. His name was in French, so I think he was trying to build a historically accurate Maginot line, someplace that the Germans didn't need to attack. |
I dunno about you man, but if I'm in a war and a light tank tries to ram me over, I'm not gonna stand my ground.
He was talking about light vehicles, not tanks. If you were in a war, you wouldn't have tried to run over anything with this:

I don't think reversing old Cromwell into blobs like an RC car back and forwards for more kills was historical
But yes you should be able to run over prone infantry
There are lots of tank battle documentaries on Netflix and Amazon prime. Several of the WWII have interviews with veterans who would disagree with you about tank crush being real. I happened to be watching this one (battle of El Alamein) yesterday before I saw this thread.

About 3/4 of the way through, you'll see a German describing the Brits crushing/decapitating/burying alive infantry. I've seen other ones where it was the other way around. |
I think crushing is OK. I really hate light vehicle pushing though - I find it super cheesy when you are in a good green cover position in the early game and the enemy just pushes you around with a Kubel/USF truck/scout car/UC, making your damage output 0 while another one of their squads shoots at you. Who needs flanking when you can just abuse the fact that the enemy doesn't have faust/AT nade yet.
Agreed, none of those vehicles should be able to push a unit out of cover. When units are out of cover, then I think it is okay, but don't know if anyone could code this into the game. |
I would guess that 50% of the people at that rank are just playing a mode they haven't played in a while, so the ELO system doesn't know what to do with them... that's one reason why larger games can be so random I think.
When you haven't played in awhile, your elo rating goes inactive, not into the 500-1000. From my experience, as soon as you play a game, your ranking becomes active again and is similar to what it was before. I think part of the problem now is that if you're new, you're going to have a mix of wins and losses in your first 10 games. Once you get that ranking, it is really difficult to improve it in 4v4 random.

This is so frustrating, one of the best things about COH was when you have a great game, you get to watch yourself play in the replay.
Now, I'm constantly getting crashes back to desktop whenever I watch replays. It happens at random times and I can seem to isolate what is causing it.
I use autohotkeys and basically just use my mouse button for tactical map.
I think I can somewhat mitigate the amount it crashes if I don't watch it at accelerated speed and try to not use the tactical map but that makes it too painful to use and still results in crashes.
Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks in advance.
I've been having bugs where if I hit the accelerate speed too fast or try tell it to speed up when it is already 8x then it crashes to desktop. Once I had a crash on a replay, it seems more prone to crash again. I eventually deleted all my old replays, started slowly increasing speed to 8x and don't usually crash now.
The small patch that came out just awhile ago broke old replays for me, so I don't try to play those anymore. |
While it looks and feels kind of psychotic, it does take skill/knowledge of the game to do it. It's also completely historical. |
