I just got back into company of heroes with two geriatric friends. After a couple of months playing we are now reasonably competitive winning a little less than half the matches we play. .....
The current balance seems to have had the opposite effect, it's just a blob-off. (type of map seems to effect how bad this is) It was like that before the patch, but before the patch we found we could force players to abandon blobbing. Not now.
No, not really. The game has a lot of counters for blobbing. I like it when people blob. It's a lot of fun when/if you wreck someone who is blobbing (like seeing a demo get 20 kills, a calliope wipe multiple squads in one barrage, or my all time favorite - having a M10 arrive at someone's battlegroup HQ right as the blob gets there and getting almost 20 crushes in one pass). Do I ever have someone that rolls over me with a blob? Yes, but it's a L2P on my part.
I kind of miss the old shrek blobs. Vetted rifles backed up by mg's and maybe a pack howie dealt with them just fine, and they allowed assault engineers to run rampant as well as the occasional M10 crush. Now it's too easy to lose the M10 and the STG volks just melt assault engineers.
PS - I wouldn't want to see Relic try to code the penalties that you want. They would likely make a stacking bug for it that makes the squads melt, plus it would always get triggered back at the base when units are healing which could ruin some games. |
So! You have Decided to Mentor?
Welcome to the Mentor sign-ups. First off the bat, we want to thank you on behalf of COH2.ORG! It is people like you, who give back to the community, which helps it grow strong.
You will need a minimum of at least one of the following:
- 500 multiplayer hours played; OR
- 1,000 multiplayer games played total; OR
- Top 300 rank in the faction/mode you wish to mentor.
Acting as a Mentor is a great way to meet new people and help mold those scrubby greenhorns into some mean automatch players.
Second, in order to best match you with one or more players whom you can help, please copy and paste and fill out the information below:
- Steam Profile and playercard:
- Armies you want to mentor. (place 'all' if all):
- Mode you want to mentor. i.e. Only 1v1, or 1v1/2v2 etc:
- Preferred language for Mentoring:
- Your Timezone in GMT:
- Max Number of Mentees (please do not take more than you can handle!). 1 mentee is highly recommended, unless you are mentoring team games, or unless you have previously mentored!):
- Do You Require that your Mentee uses voice communication of some sort?:
- Describe your availability this summer?:
What is the minimum skill level that you would prefer from your Mentee?:
We are aiming to start on July 14th. If you want to Mentor, we need to hear from you, no later than July 10th.
Will you have a separate sign up for the people who want to be mentored? I play mostly 2v2 USF and would like a mentor. I'm usually ranked 500-700 (may go higher if I get determined to make IR pathfinders work, may go lower if I always go 3-4 rifles into Captain). |
USF fully upgraded forward retreat point 240mp 120 fu major + 250mp 10 fu ambu = 490 MP and 130 FU
You're forgetting the 10 pop cap that the major and ambulance take up, so if the game lasts an hour, the 490 mp can become as much as 1200 mp |
I'm sorry to say, that nobody can watch your replay anymore. Yesterday was a hotfix so all replays are "death"
Your replay is: Patch: 3.0.0.21512
And atm one need: Patch: 3.0.0.21527
No worries, I'll post a similar one soon. What I've been struggling with is finding a new opening. It used to be 3-4 rifles into captain but my rifles have been getting pushed around a lot by both OKW and OST. The STG upgrade makes rifles drop like flies, and trying to keep them in combat after they've lost two or more models is just asking for a squad wipe. Also, for as much as people whine about the USF mortar, they're almost worthless unless someone wants to camp or spam mg's.
On BAR still leaves rifles feeling underwhelming against upgraded Volks. Two BARS is a lot of ammo and makes wipes extra punishing. |
Short game, got rekt. I struggled early against double MG-42. I didn't get grenades early because I usually like to get weapon upgrades first. Would earlier grenades have helped much? Also, if someone could review both my teammate (NJM) and myself (Donald Grump) I would appreciate it. |

I just hate the fact that JagdPanzer is in the Flak truck. The Flak truck has all the eggs in one basket approach is a nightmare if OKW is on the back foot. I personally would like to see the JagdPanzer back to either Med truck or Mech truck.
So can we put the Jackson in T1 just in case the USF player ends up on the back foot? I really like your logic. |
Been having a lot of problems lately, but it varies greatly by day. I had 3 disconnects today out of about 8-10 games. It's normally worse on weekends when there are a lot of Europeans playing (I'm in the US). However, my router log sometimes shows errors that indicate Comcast is disconnecting so they may be partially to blame. |
I would say leave stuka as it is, but buff other stuff, especially buildable Howtizers, and especially self-propeled ones like Priest and Sexton, cause now i fear (and use) Pack Howie more than real howies with greater effect, and it aint normal. Artilery is joke in this game, itš either to week or comes too late, actually i loved British op abilieties when they were op, at start, they made me fear them, made me take actions,l now when i see 350 muni bomber run, i just laugh my arse off and move everything away with no damage (just repair some trucks after).
As i see this ability can be problem in games with more than 3v3, but from my experience i go to em when i want to see a real clusterfuck, some war action ,and i basicly get it so whats to whine about. AND do u 3v3 (4v4) players want to say me that u go to play these game modes for strategy, or u go to play them just for fun (action/death/clusterfuck)? I bet its 2nd answer, then get it that fun is relative - its botth fun to blow blob up with stuka, and with calliOPe alike.
In competitive levels, where u need to think more, than just spam shit - i mean 1v1 or, to less extent 2v2, stuka bomb isnt much problem.
The AOE is so large that it is hard to get a pack howie out of the blast zone, even if you respond right away. Same thing for 57mm at gun, and having a Vet2 or Vet3 at gun decrewed when you've almost backed it out of the blast zone is really annoying.
I don't often see the stuka in 2v2's but if one hits it often swings the game. The AOE means that you can't all of your major, ambulance, and units out of the AOE.
TBH, one of the annoying thing about off-map air in this game is how completely antihistorical it is. The tiny remnants of the Luftwaffe in 1945 mostly tried to defend Germany for aerial attack, not close air support. There really shouldn't be a Stuka loiter, dive bomb, etc. On the other hand, US should have much better off-map air.

It's ok, just type "playercard plz" in chat.
If the "plz" doesn't get what you want, just add "you gardening flower nice person" so that they know you're being extra polite. |
