Thread: T 34 a much better tank than P430 May 2017, 12:02 PM In danger of falling for a troll post: The T-34 was just good en masse which is exactly the role it fulfills in Coh2. The Panzer IV (from the F2 version onwards) was far superior in any other regard which only somewhat got fixed with the 85mm version of the T-34 (mind you the T-34/76 didn't even have a cupola. Just vision slits and a periscope). Still the Panzer IV remained with better optics, accuracy of the gun, low flash gun powder, crew comfort, reload speed etc. Everything that is important to get off the first shot. Relatives I have spoken to from that time also confirmed that the sheer number of T-34s was the only thing they had going for them with situations happening where the vehicle was thrown away in dozens. The T-34 was the most lost tank of the war for some reason. That being said the T-34s in Coh2 acutally represent the Russian doctrine with this tank quite well. In: COH2 Gameplay

They have flamethrowers and flame ht if the bofors braces, they have mortars (the best counter) they have paks of the pit is occupied or braced, and later on they have the brummbar and pwerfer, which absolutely wreck sim cities. Doctrinally, they've got the mortar ht, the puma, lefh later on (another sterling counter), and the elefant, as well as offmaps. Or you could always just force a brace on the bofors and rush in with a bunch of grenadiers and maybe a flamethrower. That works too. All these non doctrinal "counters" don´t work if the cancer pit is placed behind a shot blocker. And even if you reach emplacements with flame weapons, a Bofors will kill off any infantry or flame HT faster than the other way around. Usually the Bofors will survife the flames while braced and then the funny situation occurs that the Bofors unbraces and finishes off the supposed hard counters within seconds. Moving Paks into mortar pit range also means dead Paks. The same goes for regular mortars. Long story short: Ostheer has no cost effective non-doctrinal counter to emplacements. The micro burden is on the Ostheer players side. While the Brit presses one button, the Ostheer player must apply constant pressure with units that are fragile to the emplacements. If the Brit manages to stall the attack the manpower bleed will cripple the Ostheer player while the Brit just needs to repair. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: CoH2 vs DoW3 players comparison26 May 2017, 10:40 AM With some historical knowledge you can see that Coh1 already managed to tell the story of SS-member Michael Wittmann in the Tiger Ace campaign and General Walther Model in the Market Garden campaign (which they morphed into one person). They just didn´t mention politics. During the German campaign "Generalmajor Voss" is informed that the Allied plans for Market Garden have been found and the soldiers discuss that this might be a trick and that the Allies might want to capture the General. Thread: Eastern Front Armies Revamp 21 May 2017, 13:33 PM That won´t fix the Panther. Currently for most medium tanks it needs 4 shots (4 x 160 = 640). Now it will still require the same amount of shots (3 x 200 = 600 = Not enough to finish mediums). I know you want to keep it performing the same as it currently is versus medium tanks... but its horrible performance versus mediums is what makes it currently shit in the first place. Thus the 40 more damage are a pseudo buff without real effect in most cases. The nerfed veterancy is a huge nerf. Vet2 was the only savign grace the Panther had. Now even weaker. Still useless versus infantry. Now with even weirder stats compared to the OKW Panther causing more confusion. Add in the StuG nerf and we have an even shittier Ostheer faction. nerfed PAK and nerfed Brummbär... how is that even going to make T4 attractive or keep Ostheer potent in the lategame? Yes, Flame Hetzer also needs some repairs, but the Soviet heavy in a lamentable state is very very long time I don´t think that the flamehetzer can be fixed. It´s flawed by design. A flamethrower on an assault gun chassis will always be clumsy. Flamethrowers excell on city maps... but turretless vehicles suck on those maps. Thus a turretless flamethrowing vehicle will never reach the full potential. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Brummbär overperforming28 Apr 2017, 14:19 PM How is the Elefant suddenly OP? The unit is basically designed to be flanked. If I´m not mistaken it is literally the slowest unit in the game. Further it needs additional AT support to be viable. This is a highly expensive and fragile cardhouse. Circle it with medium tanks and it´s done. Kill the support and the Elefant can´t get off more than one shot. Somethign similar can be said for the Brummbär. By the time you can invest 150 fuel in a pure AI unit, you are facing Allied tanks. One micro mistake and the cardhouse collapses. I highly dislike that so few members of this games community are allowed to decide the fate of the entire game. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Brummbar23 Apr 2017, 11:00 AM I would say it´s balanced as it is. It is perfect for lockign down VPs. No infantry squad is going to be able to cap versus its AI power. The downside is that it arrives at a point where your major concern usually is Cromwells, Comets, Lend lease Shermans etc. Thus it requires a Pak wall and/or tank support to be really viable. And if you are getting to the point that you can invest 150 fuel into a pure AI vehicle - without lacking in the AT department - usually means you have outplayed the opponent anyway. In: COH2 Gameplay
