Dynamic doesn't mean better, i still find most of coh2 maps boring, and annoying to play.
I could be wrong, but i think day-night cycle existed in one or two maps in 1v1...
I think one of the maps was "Best" (thats a name of map), but i cant find any gameplay because of stupid name...
I'm curious, what would make coh2 maps not boring to you?
A map in coh2 (or any RTS really...), simply put, is no more than a gloried chess board... and yes, a chess board is a 'boring map'. |
Visually, yes that would be cool.
But all the stupid RNG mechanics, ie Blizzards, please no. |
Yes coh2 is broken, but not for the reasons you highlight. |
I am one of those who took a break from this game 6 months back. Last week, out of curiosity, I came back to coh2.org to see how the balance state has progressed and also played some matches...
I expected the game to be overhauled and expected most of the annoying issues to be dealt with. I was playing quite a bit towards the end of 2014, and I remember reading about how - come the new year, coh2 balance would be addressed.
Well here we are, almost 7 months later.
The game is still broken as fuck. It's laughable how bad it is, and how the balance and RNG bullshit is just NOW being address, albeit quite poorly.
I agree with a lot of comments in this thread, and I'm generally not one to harp on devs because I work in the industry and know what it's like...
..I also know, that when there's this lack of 'caring about product' I suppose, it means that most of the dev team has moved on to another project.
Most likely, another game title.
Just release the whole alpha now, it's fucking common sense, you will get all your precious 'metrics' from the community playing the game rather than from your brain dead QA team ... LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS, RELIC, WELCOME TO 2015 - THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE!!! |
just get scotts. |
m36 is awesome imo |
I find that if an Ost player does not use HMG then it is considerably easier to win as USF.
By using the HMG it forces several things from me as a USF:
1) Forces me to consider buying nades early. This delays fuel.
2) Forces me to use care during my approach. I cannot afford to retreat, much less get pinned.
3) Can completely deny a sector because of point number 2. If I don't get nades, I will ignore the areas where MGs are posted till I get an m20.
In general, a HMG may not seem effective to you but trust me it is definitely a thorn in the side of your enemy. Even if your opponent seems to be countering your HMG efforts easily (and it most likely is not easily done, just seems so).
I laugh and sigh when no HMG is present. kek.

It's an okay strat against Ostheer in less micro-intensive competition. But running around with an infantry blob is a death sentence when facing OKW who have various anti-infantry weapons ranging from the Flak HQ to Stuka to Obersoldaten, Fallschirmjager, and even Sturmpioneers.
How would you change your strat to compensate for the OKW bringing up Obers and MGs with their Konigstigers to mitigate your infantry blob while they crawl up to your base? Obers can wipe out an entire 3-Veteran Rifleman squads in no time at all if they're out of cover.
paratroopers. |
so long as airplanes can fall out of the sky and wipe your units... no, not even close to competitive. especially if it happens 3+ times in a row... LOL who came up with this crap? |
My BO is always start with 4 RE opening to rifles. With rifle company, the rifle callin times perfectly and with airborne sometimes i'll just go 3 RE opening instead but usually still go 4. You get a lot of early map presence if you want to spread out or firepower if you send them all together with this opening. |
