Adding to the above poster, i think having one USF teammate is good. USF can put a lot of pressure in the early and midgame with their infantry while a Soviet teammate can support the USF player with Maxims, snipers, mortars, ZiS, etc. In the late game, Shermans can be valuable flanking tools along with Jacksons in the back or flanking as well. Having three USF teammates or all USF is going to be difficult though. |
No it needs to be on par with the elephant. yeah sure the elephant has lees armour and range but up for that and some with spotting and heat rounds , its in a faction without a fuel penalty and its cheaper . also it doctrine provides anti arty options and spotting scopes making the elephant way better then the JT.
It is on par or better than the Elefant. What you are describing is the commander...
Breakthrough has sturm officer and Panzerfusilier, which are both very nice units. Both commanders function differently. |
1. All sides were dirty in war
2. If you are talking about crimes under the Soviet regime, that would count more towards state repression and state terrorism/class struggle.
3. Holocaust was systematic genocide
4. Nazism emphasized racial purity, social Darwinism, which meant domination of "inferior" peoples by "superior" peoples. It was fundamentally racist and anti-semetic
5. Soviet Union was founded on principles of Marxism-Leninism, which emphasized class struggle and the domination of the capitalist class by the proletariat. It wasn't "bad" fundamentally, but the concept was abused
6. Hammer and sickle is a symbol of many communist parties world-wide, just like the swastika is a symbol of some spiritual groups
7. Symbols can evoke very powerful emotional feelings. some see swastika and are offended and some people see the hammer and sickle and are offended.
8. IMO hammer and sickle is not banned because the Soviets were on the Allied side in WW2. Also, it is a symbol of leftist groups. IMO swastika evokes connections to Nazism while hammer and sickle can be connected to many things like politics and communist crimes. It is illegal to form communist parties in some countries though.
I saw a religious group with swastika banners a month ago. Images of the Nazi party immediately came to mind, but i knew the swastika is a religious sumbol, so i was not offended. Context is very important. In COH2, we can play the German faction in WW2. Having a swastika would definitely mean a connection to the Nazis. My tip to everyone is keep an open-mind. Some things are offensive to some people but not to others.

SO i guess the compensation for not being able to shot through walls is.... to destroy even harder on open maps? |
You can't stun the Jagdtiger with the ISU AP rounds |
what's next? a concentration camp? |
ive been witnessing this as well |
ARGH, ARGH, ARGH! Australian, you too. No seriously guys, just stop it with stuff like this, you are hurting my feelings and your reputation. Instead, play some Ostheer 1s and 2s. You will find out the following: Ost T4 is extremely situational to begin with and only really feasible with one doc to begin with, to be precise, Luftwaffe supply. (provided your opponent is remotely up to scratch of course) Secondly: If you get T4 up, you will NEED your fuel for hard AT (Panthers) unless your opponent is a total beginner. Thirdly, the Brummbär has only modest AI potential and is further curtailed by the fact that it has no turret = meaning, unlike Bulldozer you cannot flank AT guns, and cant do shit to armor. You will get more utility out of even a Pwerfer, and that is really saying something.
it is a good unit, it is just stuck in a tier that's not that accessible and has a panther in it. |
Brummbar is actually pretty good. It sorta is like the m8a1, but with less range. It can wipe squads, and is fairly accurate. |
I disagree with your point when it comes to the applications in-game. WW2 affected many people, but those who don't want to be hurt by its imagery should not be playing a game which is about exactly that. You're not flaunting the icons in public, you're not forcing it on people, the only people exposed to it are the players actually playing the game. It's absolutely ridiculous to get offended by a swastika in a video game when you are fully aware of what the game is depicting. You are commanding SS troops and other units guilty of war crimes in all but name, yet somehow the icon of a swastika would offend you?
So why not just add an option you can turn on/off?
Also, building your whole online persona around a name like SS Panzer Division is kind of stupid.
the swatstika is banned in Germany (except for historical purposes iirc). The game cannot be sold in Germany if the swastika is in it. I am certain a fairly significant number of players are German. It would be unfair and unwise to marginalize all of them for the sake of showing a swastika. |
