As a prospecting member of the Soviet Whine Hydra collective: 4v4 is better than before now, some issues exist but overall it has improved greatly.
But how so? Last patch nerfed the pak a bit, and buffed USF a little bit. I think it has been almost the same.

11-2-14 4v4 Lanzerath
This was an epic and stressful match at Lanzerath. Both sides fielded lots of armor. The game was on the edge of disaster, but we managed to pull it off. A lot of good play from both sides. I hope you enjoy this game. It is action-packed with tons of tank combat and teamwork. |
Edit: Dat player card you have on your signature it's a smurf's player card. Show me your real old player card and I will show you mine.
ouch. calling out someone's playercard without showing your own? I thought that was the "code" on this forum |
I said no, but I think call ons for all teams need a bit of a redesign so they don't become the focus of your "tech". The one big difference between the first company of heroes and this one is that you can't scout an opponents tech in this game due to the call on heavy meta. Even if you see a doctrinal specific unit like Shock Troops so many commanders have access to it that it doesn't inform you that you need to prep for an IS-2
Well most of the competitive Soviet Doctrines have some sort of tank call-in, so it is best to prep nonetheless |
in 1vs1 that's a death sentence.
Just saying... it is there if you want it |
The map size has nothing to do with the precision. The stupid damage values wouldn't even be so much of an issue if it wasn't for the precision. That's the whole reason why Soviets got nerfed on at least 1 mortar. The pm-82 did double damage as part of the munitions cost to precision strike, 1 shotting axis weapon teams. That got nerfed. Now we have a unit that does this even better and doesn't require vet1.
If you look at all the other artillery in the game, they are all strong enough to 1 shot a squad, even in buildings (but not as reliably for some). The problem is they all have far more scatter. The stuka needs to lose either splash damage or precision. If not, then other arty needs to be brought to it's level as it's a very unfair advantage. The stuka costs no where near as much as lefH, ml20, and b4, but outperforms them with infinite range.
You can also get a Stuka fairly early compared to the Kat and Panzerwerfer. |
A patch could come out right now that makes the game wildly imbalanced in favor of the allies and those numbers would still be the same.
Whether or not any of the things you just said are true is not in any way related to those numbers.
Therefore it is absurd to attempt to argue all of your points using those numbers.
If you modified your argument to say that over the course of the game's lifetime it has tended to favor the axis, then the numbers would support you.
If you want to argue over the state of the game RIGHT NOW, the numbers mean nothing.
As far as i know it has been like that since July, Romeo. Throughout the many balance patches, the numbers have been fairly consistent. Probably (im inferring), that there is a fundamental problem in those modes.
But im going off topic |
I'm just trying to help players get some perspective. I'm going to use us as a reference but im not tooting my horn (infact I dont think we are very good, clearly there are better players). We are 4 guys who have played together since coh1. Combined we have about 40 years experience in this series. Is it possible you are losing because you are being outplayed? Again, there are certainly things that need to be addressed, as there always will be with this game. But I find it a little frustrating when I check the records of the people complaining about balance and the majority of them seem to be pretty inexperienced. Not saying that they don't deserve an opinion, of course they do. But people are so quick to point at balance and not look at themselves or their squad. Yes there are certainly balance issues, but imo the majority of people pointing at balance should be pointing at themselves first.
Oh yes i agree. Players have to adjust to the learning curve and figure out of they are doing things properly before complaining about balance. I think the issue here is that we have to wait months (again) for any significant improvement on balance issues. Cruzz took some days out of his personal time to make sweeping changes, but we have to wait "months" for official Relic changes. |
it's what you get when you balance using player data alone
may you elaborate? i am interested in what you mean |
nice
more 6 months of waiting...
Oh no...not you nigo.. NOT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think balance in 4v4 is as bad as people make it seem. Not saying that the USF doesn't need help, certainly they do in some aspects. With that being said, when we play high ranking 4v4 allied teams - the games are intense, they are close and competitive. We win some, we lose some. Don't be so quick to blame balance. Hold yourself and your teammates accountable and figure out what you can do differently.
Gdot, i must respectively say, your AT is 126-6 as Axis. I am pretty sure you aren't having any balance issues at all
