In more than 15 games with these changes (Removed RA bonus from 5men, Osttruppen timing nerfs, T1 skip nerfs) on miragefla’s mod with him and other lv17-19 players in 1s and 2s we extensively tested the Ostheer changes and found the faction to be in an excellent spot after them. These conclusions are not absolutely perfect, but are certainly much better than theoretical predictions. Okay fair enough on the nontheoretical bits, -but- The thing is we can test vanilla grenadiers against various factions and the result will always be the same unless grens get some sort of buff. The engagements will remain and continue to be horrid and painful. Which forces into the same 4 doctrines. In: COH2 Balance

Hell it gets even better. Lategame you get zoned out because your vehicles dont have the wipe potenial of your opponents. Grens are fucking worthless and have no value. Obviously but the larger issue is that normal grens simply arent playable in any way. The call in infantry is crutches to make the faction playable. What will happen when normal grens go up against vetted rifles with two bars. They'll get their shitstomped. In: COH2 Balance

It wasn't fun. It was shit. The best part was doing customs, but it always devolved into the same sleep-inducing trash that team games usually will be. At least now it's playable and somewhat enjoyable. You have to be genuinely delusional or be looking at the previous coh2 versions with rose-tinted glasses because Jesus christ, it was an unfun retarded mess. (Like invisible demos, Can't do anything to counter it so you had to blob your entire army behind a sturmpio, wow so much 'fun') In: COH2 Gameplay

Volks, as you say, get minced by Allied infantry (and vehicles) past early game. It feels like you're "supposed" to replace them with Obers, to be able to compete, but due to Obers late timing, cost, and the fact they need vet/LMG this isn't realistic. Particularly as you sort of "need" three/four Volks before you tech up, you really don't have the population space to justify Obers, either. It's almost like you're encouraged to have your Volks die. I think this is part (On top of the other numerous benefits thereof) of the reason people really like Fusiliers. Early infantry that actually scales. Honestly I don't really enjoy 1v1s, so this is mostly theoretical speculation, rather than coming from experience. Well realistically you cant do that. Two squads cannot fill the gap of four unfortunatetly. In: COH2 Balance
