Obersoldaten cost 400 mp a piece and 200-mp + 80 fuel just to tech and get them on an already fuel starved faction that receives 66% of the fuel and 80% of the munitions that every other faction gets. They need every little advantage they can get.
Also if you consider the prerequisite of a Mechanized or Medical FHQ truck BEFORE the Schwerer Panzer HQ can be placed, that's an additional 200mp + 40 fuel leading up to 400mp + 120 fuel just to be able to build them, then you add 400mp per unit that's 800mp + 120 fuel for Obersoldaten.
Volksgrenadiers are shite without panzershreks and only receive one panzershrek per unit.
Now if you want to complain about Volksgrenadier veterancy and getting to Vet-5 where they are very durable, you gotta consider that the only reason they vet quickly is due to their low price of 235mp + the fact that with a panzershrek they are dealing damage to vehicles, becoming an anti-vehicle unit that yields a lot of experience that leads to very fast vet.
Stuka zu Fuss actually was ninja nerfed (No official patch notes) to increase the spread on their projectiles exponentially. It's actually a pretty devastating nerf, hell I don't even build the thing anymore it just isn't worth the 100 fuel. |
What is annoying as fuck is the following:
The ultimate US-blob is rolling in and you know it.
So you put 2 MG42 (vetted and even with incendiary loaded) in good positions.
What happens now?
1. Blob rushes in
2. Sees MG
3. Spams some Phosphorus Smoke on your perfectly prepared ambush
4. Rapes all your shit because blob's 500000dps.
This would pretty much be the gist of every failure fighting against Allies, especially Americans for the past few months. |
Dude... What truck losing? You don't face 4 rifles in first 2 mins. You face 1 RE, 1 RF on fuel point, and 30-45sec lataer second RF squads. By the time that second RF will come, the first one will be dead or RF will retreat to the base. Second squad won't attack alone so USF player need to wait to recrew first squad and wait for third or just garden the fuel and go somewhere else. First clash is very important and if you use Strompio, Kubel and Truck you will win this for 99%. When 3 RF will come you will have Strompio, Kubel and 2 Volks.
I'm citing my experiences in 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4. I have long ago given up on 1v1 and most 2v2's considering how horribly slanted in Allies favor they are. |
Kubel+Strompio+Truck.
Use truck to push rifle out of the cover, suppress with kubel, finish with stormpio. When they retreat you wil get huge advantage which won't be easy for allies to counter, even for 4 rifles.
So to even be mildly effective one has to exploit a poor mechanic and risk losing their truck? Riiight that makes sense. Pfft, that's crap man.
Also I've been playing Ostheer Close Air Support to work with my team, just nothing doing it. Not MG-42's, not grenadiers, not panzergrens, 221/2's are crap. Pioneers are almost completely garbage.

Chill dude. If you check my profile you that I play axis mostly (mostly 2v2s) so I'm not the kind of NERF AXIS BUFF ALLIES. But considering the vet system and allies lower HP on armored units, Volk blob do wonders late game. But Riflemen and shocks (DA MIGHTY SHOCKS) pwn mid game.
Just mid game? Rifleblobs of 3-5 squads are dominating early game, within 5 minutes. Not just in 1v1 and 2v2, but even 3v3 and 4v4. I'm a pretty decent player, especially in team games, and I've never felt so goddamn gimped in my life as of these last 3-5 games that I just played tonight.
Whatever Relic is doing, they need to wake up, because their attempts at "Balance" are just punishing people for playing the factions they want now.
Grenadiers just die instantly, panzergrens are mostly ineffective unless they are sitting on top of the opposing squad, and there is no bottleneck to stop these American rifleblobs and Soviets from overrunning you within the first few minutes. Literally nothing, MG's are completely ineffective and lose models all while struggling to suppress even a single squad. |
I agree that the blobbing is a tactic, and if you force them not to blob it's not appealing. "Forcing" players to do anything is not a good option, but the thing is the game at the current state is encouraging players to blob, specially OKW.

It's not "Especially OKW" You should say it's Especially Allies. Americans in particular blob 10x harder than Axis and are far more effective at it with BARs and M1919's that instagib Volksgrens, Sturms, Obersoldaten, and Grenadiers.

Sorry you just seem to play another game or in another league (i'm just around rank 600). And to explain, the riflenades are a problem since the last patch. Because of the cover system they get a really huge buff.
You're using the molotov wrong. It has the ability to wipe on impact, but furthermore it makes a location uninhabitable for several seconds because of the fire-pool burning there. It's a cover/area denial tool, not necessarily a troop killer.
The reason Germans ended up with more troop killers and equalizers were to better emulate the historical 3:1 ratios that the Germans dealt with. Allies have numbers, cheaper units, lower quality. Germans have higher quality, lesser numbers, more expense to compensate, their qualities allow them equalizers to level the playing field.
LMG-42's, G43's, Rifle-Grenades. Honestly they should get their LMG-42 + G-43 combo back to make them a bit better and bring back use to G-43 doctrines.

No research cost, long range. It's really the range that adds an unpredictable element, which I love to use on my riflemen. I stack 3 of the +7% grenade range bulletins and john elway them from rifle grenade range, it's really effective.
I always thought they should do something with RGs. Make the smoke trail more visible, or speed up the flight time and add a 1 second fuse when it lands
Wrong, their tech research costs are bundled in with the Battle Phase 1 tech up.
Their long range comes with the down side of a minimum range that's actually pretty distanced. If you stand right on top of them, they won't be able to fire it. It's fine as it is. |
The grenade with the best range, that explode instant now wipes squads a lot.
There is no disadvantage in it.
Just fail and stupid. Riflegrenade spam is really a pain and game killer for me.
And i mean cons, guards and shocks.
You can't launch it while on the move, and it has a minimum range that has to be met. If you don't want to get gibbed by it, close the gap. |

Well I've learned that many game communities often have lots of talented people looking for projects of some kind to devote themselves to. Oftentimes there just isn't an idea that captures their inspiration.
All I'm doing is throwing out an idea and seeing where it takes people.
