I just lost another game to the Faust bug. AEC chased 222, Osttruppen tried to Faust, Faust hit a wall. The usual story. It feels like it happens far too often these times.
We have alternatives:
- The AT riflenade on Panzerfusiliers.
- AT Grenades, like Panzergrenadiers used to have in CoH1.
Why can't we just replace the Fausts with those? There are good reasons to do it:
- CoH2 is a competitive game. taking away frustration is far more important than trying to keep an iconic weapon if it's bugged. Reliable snares are essential to compete.
- It would make a distinction between different snare ranges of Axis infantry (Grens/Falls have long range Faust, while Volks have shorter range Faust, could be replaced by the AT riflenade and AT nades respectively to be made more clear).
- There's a mega big tourney coming up for CoH2. Are we going to restart matches if a Faust hits the ground and ruins someone's chance to win?

This is probably the worst bug in the game due to how long it's been around and how basic it is.
A 100% chance to hit not working when Other abilities that are otherwise identical work 100% of the time.

SHould we also removed another bugged iconic weapons like: deathloop maxims and replace them by vickers or something else?

In that case the bug is generated by the model and the unit behaviour. Considering the Panzerfaust projectile not hitting the target is something that should be simpler I feel it could reasonably be fixed.
Question on the bug: Is this Faust bug related to the fact that Panzerfausts cannot go through objects/need vision to fire when other AT grenades work all the time? For example fausts don't work when someone uses smoke to obscure vision, or around corners.

I think Faust requiring vision to trigger is from EFA balance. Panzer Tactician was too strong of an out-of-jail freecard against snares.
