Here's my two cents on the issue. In my opinion when players say "GG WP" at the end of a game I think they should only really do this if indeed the game was actually a good game, where both players played to the best of their ability. Otherwise I feel the meaning gets lost. What's the point in saying gg when maybe you know yourself that you played terribly or got stunningly outplayed. Instead of saying GG in games like these players should just say WP.
As for saying "GL HF" at the start of the game I believe everyone should do this as it shows respect for your opponent and helps promote the scene in a good light. If a player says gl hf and his opponent doesn't respond in kind I would consider that rude. It really doesn't take much effort to type that back...
GG, not.

my fingers hurt, can't say good luck high five, but since this is about the eastern front, let's greet our opponents with "death to all my enemies" or "if i lose i'm going to be executed" or better yet "die you communist bastards"

I like to add a "prepare to die" after my hi hf sometimes to add flavor.

When the game is obviously finished, for example at 10vp or base is destoyed, that's fine, I do this myself. but when you just lost a battle and not the war in the middle of the game, it's annoying.
Yup, thats when I say it. Just before ticker runs out. Not if I am destroying someone's base. Only if ticker is down to 5-10 and I hold all 3, or there is no reasonable chance of me losing 1 of my 2 vp's
But apparently its rude
Tho, I can't recall instance when someone responded with FU or wtf is your problem.
Sometimes I even type, after I lose very close and intense game 'GG noob '
I usually get response yeah 'GG, that was close' or something similar. with a little bit of chat on: where the game was won/lost and almost had me there
Usually nasty players, start verbal bash way before the end of the game.

Fuck yes. Well said. I hope you stick around and lead by example.
Tbh I would much rather lead by example in EVE online than COH. With all the experience and wealth I have in EVE it would be easier for me to serve there than COH which I play just for fun. Not because I want to brag but at some point I was among top10 richest players in EVE so I was no noob there. Not greedy rather a wealthy visionary that tried to use wealth to help build some good teams as wealth is power. Finance/wealth, Diplomacy and PVP those are the 3 cornerstones that you need to succeed as a team in EVE. There are two types of leaders, those that use power to serve others and those that use it to rule for self-serving purposes. . EVE was just so time consuming which are why I started playing RTS again.
Never in EVE have I seen so many top players like COH2 treat other players (especially new players) like crap. Some top players seem more interested insulting people than helping the community to grow. In general, top players in EVE are more mature than COH2 (dont jugde EVE based on the public forum, lots of good team players rarely even use that). I love COH2 as a game but the community seem to be dieing but still hoping for the best.
It also looks like a waste of time playing with some people like COHexperts. Sadly just had a game with Ir0nRoman (COHExpert). Yes the game are not balanced, but that's no excuse to behave like a spoiled child that did not get what he wanted for christmas.

1. Would not say hi or hf.
2. I won first game, then he insult me. No gg.
3. He win second game, then insult me again.
Bad winner + bad loser = epic fail.
Next time I might just surrender from the start and he can have a free win. Dont even want to waste my time or energy playing with these immature players.
If this was EVE online and you had been on a really good team something like this would happen to immature players or bad team players:
1. You get a warning from CEO or director for beeing a trouble maker, "carebear" or socially retarded etc. Change or leave. On some teams you wont even get a warning, some will just scream "carebear" or "spy" etc.. in corp chat or TS and then you wont just get kicked but you will be "kill on sight" by your own team mates.
2. Get lucky and there might be a second warning.
3. If you at this point still show a bad attitude there wont be a third warning, you'll get kicked from the team. It's ALOT of hard work building a large good team and just not worth the effort having any trouble maker on the team. Been there, done that. Celebrity wannabes are attention seekers which might be good solo players but in general they cause to much trouble (both ingame and outgame) for the leadership. A bad attitude is contagious which eventual will spread and become a direct threat to the longevity of the team. I have seen alot of good teams in EVE self implode or die this way due to attitude problems. Pretty sad to watch. Once a bad attitude spread to the leadership the team will eventual self implode or split into 2 or more smaller teams, just a matter of time.
I doubt COHExpert (except maybe Vonivan which seem ok) will lead by example to help correct any attitude problems within the COH community. Just look at Barton which got an epeen at the size of Mount Everest.

If all streamers would follow the same lead as Stephenn it would help attract more mature and team oriented players to COH.
There are NO community without good team players. It's the same rule in real life, take more than you give back to the local or global community and your just a consumer not a team player. It's bad to be spoiled, give you a false perception of entitlements and superior to other attitude bs.
Solo players are not necessary good team players that help build a strong community. If some players think they can build a good community based on skill and elitism I suggest go play League Of Legends. Good game but the LoL community have earned a bad reputation for good reasons.

Thanks for making this post.
This guy has said the same exact thing to me, plus few more bad words for using ag against him. Later when I played against him as soviet and beat his gren spam with cons so bad he finally left without saying anything. The funny thing is that I was on a 7 losing streak that day and it was my last game when I beat him. That's why I labeled the reply "fate has something to do with it".

Permanently BannedTbh much worse has been said to me directly on these forums and in stream chats, ironically by some of these very same people here who are complaining about this kind of conduct.

It is obvious you do not follow the CoH2 scene/community yourself as VonIvan is the only one out of the COHExperts bunch that got banned from playing the game due to misconduct.
But I do not blame you as you were busy playing EVE Online....

I don't really agree.
Like a previous poster said, if the game is obviously finished, I tend to say GG just to tell the other player that I appreciated the game and the efforts that both players put into it.
I have to disagree.
If the winner wants show his appreciation for the other players efforts he should say WP alone, that's a kind compliment.
Both players know that the winner usually had a good game, so there's no need to say it first. It's like braging about it, like an anoying childhood friend.
And I think GG should mean "Had a Good Game". Losers don't have to say it. If he outplays me, yeah GG maybe a WP if he did something really clever. If it was a terrible experience for me there's no need to lie that I had a "Good Game".
It's sort of a handshake really. Forcing it is rude I think, no matter the reason.

Once I said GG when i was getting baseraped at 25-30min mark, I didnt quit but try to push him back.
It was more than one hour long battle and in the end I emerged victorious.
Never give up !!!

Re: cobra + eve
Forgive my ignorance but I though 'carebear' was a label applied to those who brought their social conscience into game and not embracing the red in tooth and claw ethos of competitive gaming. Is this approach really seen as bad attitude in eve or have I misunderstood?
